This year, there are many changes in university admission plans. Candidates need to pay attention to the new adjustments so as not to miss the opportunity to be admitted to the desired major.
With expected changes in admission regulations, many universities have plans to adjust admission methods and combinations in 2025.
According to the 2025 enrollment plans announced by universities, many schools plan to open new majors, adjust the subject combinations for admission, gradually reduce the enrollment quota based on high school graduation exam results and academic records, and increase the enrollment quota based on the results of separate exams.
From 2025, Ho Chi Minh City National University will reduce admission methods to 3 methods, including: direct admission, admission based on the results of the school-organized capacity assessment exam, and admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam.
According to the latest announcement of Ho Chi Minh City National University, in 2025, up to 91 universities and 9 colleges will use the results of the competency assessment test organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University for admission consideration.
Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 (Vinh Phuc) has just announced a project to organize an independent exam for admission in 2025. This is the third pedagogical university to have its own exam, after Hanoi Pedagogical University and Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University.
Regarding the reason for holding a separate exam, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 said that in recent years, many policies of the Party and State have had a positive impact on teacher training and key priority sectors for development. The number of candidates applying for university admission to the school has increased dramatically with the candidates' permanent addresses in all 63 provinces/cities.
"This reality requires schools to have appropriate enrollment plans to increase input quality, one of the important factors determining output quality," informed Hanoi Pedagogical University 2.
According to the 2025 enrollment plan of the National Economics University, this year the school opens two new majors: Labor Relations and International Commercial Law.
The school continues to eliminate the method of considering academic records as in 2024 and maintains 3 stable admission methods including: Graduation exam results, combined admission and direct admission. Compared to the 2024 admission period, the school also stopped enrolling some groups.
While many schools have reduced their enrollment quotas and even eliminated the method of considering transcripts, in 2025 many universities will also reserve many quotas for this method. This is also one of the admission methods that candidates are interested in.
In 2025, the Vietnam Women's Academy will have 6 admission methods for 11 training majors, including the method of considering academic records. In this admission method, the academy will consider the academic results of all 3 years of grades 10, 11 and 12. It is expected that this method will open for admission registration from May 2025.
Similarly, Hanoi Law University also plans to continue to consider admission based on the results of the 10th, 11th and 12th grade transcripts according to the specific combinations determined for each major and consider converting international language certificates.
According to the draft 2025 enrollment regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), if considering transcripts, schools must use a combination of at least 3 subjects, including Math or Literature with a proportion of one-third or more of the total score. Schools must also use the learning results of the entire 12th grade year, instead of using scores from 3-5 semesters like previous enrollment seasons.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to tighten early admission to 20% of the target instead of having no control as before.
With the expected innovation in enrollment plans from the Ministry of Education and Training as well as schools, at this time, 12th grade students cannot help but worry.
Nguyen Thu An, a 12th grade student at Nguyen Trai High School (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi) said: “While many schools have announced their admission plans with many adjustments, many schools have not announced any information yet. This somewhat affects our plans to choose schools and majors.”
While waiting for the official promulgation of the university and college admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, Dr. Nguyen Phi Long - Head of Training Department, Vietnam Women's Academy noted that at this time, 12th grade students need to focus on reviewing for the upcoming high school graduation exam, at the same time, develop an admission plan suitable to their abilities, set career goals to pursue so as not to be passive in the final stage.
Candidates need to carefully research 2025 enrollment information on the official websites of the schools, avoiding unofficial sites that cause unfortunate mistakes.
