In August, the economy welcomed 3.4 thousand newly established enterprises with capital of 124.6 thousand billion VND and 71.8 thousand employees, down 15% in enterprises, down 6% in registered capital and down 12% in labor.

A report from the General Statistics Office released on September 6 said that in August 2024, business start-up activities decreased in terms of enterprises, registered capital and employment compared to July.

Specifically, the country recorded 3.4 thousand newly established enterprises with registered capital of more than 124.6 thousand billion VND and nearly 71.8 thousand employees, accordingly, a decrease of 15% in the number of enterprises, a decrease of 6% in registered capital and a decrease of 12% in the number of employees. Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises also decreased by 12.8%, registered capital decreased by 16.2% and the number of employees decreased by 22.6%.

According to the report, the average registered capital (per enterprise) newly established in the month reached VND9.3 billion, up 24.4% over the previous month and down 3.9% over the same period last year. However, the country welcomed nearly 8,500 enterprises returning to operation, up 12.7% over the previous month and up 35.6% over the same period in 2023.

In the first eight months, the economy had nearly 110,800 newly registered enterprises, with a total capital of VND 994.7 trillion and a total number of registered employees of more than 672,400, up 4.4%, up 0.7% and down 1.9% respectively over the same period last year. Along with that, the total registered capital added to the economy was more than VND 2,041 trillion, down 5.1% over the same period in 2023. In addition, the whole country had more than 57,300 enterprises returning to operation (up 25.3% over the same period in 2023), bringing the total number of newly established and returning enterprises in the first eight months to nearly 168,000 enterprises, up 12.5% ​​over the same period last year. Thus, on average, there were more than 21,000 newly established and returning enterprises per month.

In terms of industry, the country had 1,090 newly established enterprises in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, down 3.7% over the same period last year. In addition, there were 25,700 enterprises in the industry and construction sector, up 1.4% and nearly 84,000 enterprises in the service sector, up 5.5%.

In addition, the entire economy also witnessed the departure of 5,334 enterprises (registered to temporarily suspend business for a period of time), down 1.6% compared to the previous month and up 3.0% compared to the same period in 2023; 5,160 enterprises temporarily suspended operations pending dissolution procedures, down 4.5% and down 1.1%, while 1,927 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, up 11.4% and up 26.0%.

In the first eight months, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending business was more than 82,800, up 15.3% over the same period last year. Along with that, 38,700 enterprises temporarily suspended operations pending dissolution procedures, down 5.8%, and 13,800 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, up 18%. Accordingly, on average, 16,900 enterprises withdrew from the market per month./.
