These are encouraging figures given at the Conference summarizing the Month of Action for Children 2023 with the theme "Joining hands to minimize harm to children" organized by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on the morning of July 10 at the Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled, Thuy An Commune, Ba Vi District, Hanoi City.
Attending the conference were Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha and representatives of ministries, departments and branches: Central Propaganda Department, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Information and Communications, Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Central Committee of Vietnam Women's Union and some children at Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled.
Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha delivered the opening speech at the Conference summarizing the Month of Action for Children 2023.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha said that the Month of Action for Children is held in June every year to promote the movement of the whole people to care for, educate and protect children; to propagate, disseminate and mobilize agencies, organizations, educational establishments, families and individuals to implement policies, programs, plans, projects, build works and mobilize resources for children. This has been stated in the Law on Children 2016.
This year, activities to implement the Month of Action for Children have been widely deployed, including strengthening communication and mobilizing resources; organizing activities to promote children's participation; receiving and managing children in summer activities in communes, wards, towns, and residential communities. Along with that are recreational, entertainment, cultural, sports, tourism and sightseeing activities to ensure safety and health for children; checking, reviewing, detecting and taking timely measures to remedy unsafe places, places at risk of accidents and injuries to children...
Overview of the Conference.
During the Month of Action for Children, leaders of the Party, State, ministries and branches have promoted activities of visiting and giving gifts to children, such as: Giving gifts to children in special circumstances at Hermann Gmeiner Hanoi Private High School and the Center for Supporting the Development of Inclusive Education under the Central Pedagogical College; giving 100 scholarships and gifts to children in special and difficult circumstances in Hoa Binh province with a total value of over 140 million VND; visiting and giving gifts to more than 1,000 children in the provinces and cities of Hanoi, Hai Duong, Cao Bang, Ca Mau with a total value of over 2.6 billion VND; donated 27.4 billion VND (including 10 mobile swimming pools, 10 playgrounds for children, 1,400 gifts; 100 scholarships, 01 toilet, sponsorship for the last 6 months of the year for orphans due to the COVID-19 epidemic in 29 provinces and cities; donated works and gifts for children in 25 provinces and cities)...
Leaders of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs also had many practical and meaningful activities for children in a number of provinces and cities such as: Attending the inauguration and handover of classroom buildings and presenting 50 gifts, each worth 1 million VND to children in Quang Ngai province; attending the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Children 2023 in Hanoi, Thua Thien Hue, Bac Ninh, Nghe An; presenting 200 scholarships to children in Long An province; visiting and presenting gifts to children in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, etc.
Colonel Tran Cong Truong, Deputy Director of the Military Medical Department, Standing Member of the Committee for Population, Family and Children, Ministry of National Defense, spoke at the Conference.
Localities organized activities to visit, give gifts, grant scholarships, and provide free medical examinations and surgeries for poor children and children in special circumstances. The results were: 2,466 locations held the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Children with 598,784 children attending; 272 new and upgraded works; 459,701 children received gifts (cost of 30.1 billion VND); 13,877 children received scholarships worth 9.4 billion VND; 66,654 children received free medical examinations and treatment with a total cost of 7.1 billion VND...
At the Conference, the Committee for Population, Family and Children (Ministry of National Defense), the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Phong City and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An Province... reported on the implementation results and experience in mobilizing resources for the Month of Action for Children in 2023.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuan Anh, Head of the Department of Children and Gender Equality, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Phong City reported on the implementation results and experience in mobilizing resources for the Month of Action for Children in 2023.
Representing Hai Phong City, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuan Anh, Head of the Department of Children and Gender Equality, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Phong City, said that 100% of districts in Hai Phong City successfully organized the Launching Ceremony of the Month of Action for Children in 2023; organized 38 training courses for more than 4,000 people; hung nearly 900 banners and slogans; posted nearly 1,300 articles promoting child protection and care. The total budget of Hai Phong City for the Month of Action for Children in 2023 is more than 34 billion VND (the budget is more than 1.3 billion VND, the mobilized source is nearly 32.7 billion VND). Of which, the budget for support, gifts, and scholarships is more than 29.6 billion VND; building 41 new works; upgrading 18 works for children with a budget of nearly 3 billion VND). Hai Phong City's experience in mobilizing resources for the 2023 Children's Action Month is worth learning from.
Recognizing the contributions of ministries, branches, agencies, organizations and society from central to local levels in their efforts to "Join hands to minimize harm to children" in the Month of Action for Children 2023, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha hopes that the work of protecting and caring for children will become a regular and long-term task so that children can develop comprehensively in a healthy and safe environment.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha presented gifts worth 20 million VND, 100 gifts to children at Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled and together with some delegates visited the rehabilitation area, vocational training area, dining and accommodation area for children at Thuy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled.
