Regarding the gas tank explosion in Thu Duc City (HCMC) that caused a pregnant woman to be hospitalized due to severe burns, a representative of Cho Ray Hospital said that although doctors tried their best to treat her, as of this afternoon (October 21), the fetal heartbeat could no longer be measured. The prognosis for the mother's health is currently poor.
Right from the time of admission, doctors at Cho Ray Hospital coordinated with doctors at Hung Vuong Hospital to try to monitor the fetus and perform an early cesarean section to save the baby.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , at around 4am on October 18, residents living in alley 676 To Ngoc Van street (Tam Binh ward, Thu Duc city) heard a loud explosion in a row of boarding houses.
Immediately afterwards, people nearby heard the cry for help of a burned woman running out of a rented room.
Upon checking the rented room, many items were burned black. Locals helped take this woman, Ms. LTHC (33 years old, living in Dong Nai province) to the emergency room in a state of severe burns.
Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep - Head of the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department, Cho Ray Hospital - said the patient was admitted with gas burns covering 95% of her body. The patient is 26 weeks pregnant with her fourth child.
Initial information, when Ms. C. woke up, turned off the air conditioner and washed dishes in the kitchen in her rented room and then turned on the gas stove to cook noodles, it exploded.
Examining the scene, the gas tank and gas valve were still intact, the entire concrete floor in the room was cracked from the bottom up, everything was in disarray.
Initially, the authorities determined that the cause of the explosion was likely a gas leak in the biogas tank (located under the floor of the rented room). The gas accumulated in the room, and when Ms. C. lit the gas tank, it exploded.
It is known that Ms. C. rented the above room since 2023, living with her husband, Mr. PMK (28 years old, living in Tra Vinh province). At the time of the incident, Mr. K. was at work.
The above boarding house was built in 2018 and is managed by Ms. TA. The boarding house has developed a fire prevention and fighting plan for the facility since 2020.
The case is under investigation.
