YOMIURI SHIMBUN. Japanese real estate developer Mitsubishi Estate held a groundbreaking ceremony for Torch Tower , which will be the country's tallest building.

SCMP. After detecting the first case of monkeypox , the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region (China) called on people in high-risk groups to get vaccinated against the disease.

BANGKOK POST. With his visit to Cambodia today, September 28, this is the first Southeast Asian country that Mr. Srettha Thavisin has visited since taking office as Prime Minister of Thailand on August 22.

TEMPO. Indonesia's trade minister has announced a ban on trading goods on social media platforms, in a bid to curb online sales by major tech companies.

KPL. Laos is making every effort to prepare for Visit Laos Year 2024 , when it assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship, with the goal of attracting at least 4.6 million domestic and foreign tourists, generating revenue of about 712 million USD.

IRNA. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has successfully launched a new military satellite , marking another achievement in the country's space technology.

AFP. Bulgaria's parliament has decided to transfer Soviet-era S-300 air defence missile systems to Ukraine - the first shipment of aid to Kiev from a country bitterly divided over the issue.

ANADOLU. Turkey, Russia and Qatar are conducting telephone diplomacy to ensure that Russian grain reaches food-starved African countries.

TVP. Poland remains open to Ukraine's proposal for a grain import licensing system, Agriculture Minister Robert Telus said, saying the issue would be discussed in the coming weeks.

“Our position is very firm when it comes to grain. Grain from Ukraine cannot enter the Polish market.” (Minister Robert Telus)

REUTERS. Polish President Andrzej Duda said his country would bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, along with potential candidates such as Indonesia, Mexico and India.

NY TIMES. The Turkish parliament will keep its promise to approve Sweden's NATO membership application if the Biden administration clears the way for the F-16 deal for Ankara, according to President Tayyip Erdogan.

DW. Germany's KfW Development Bank has decided to stop a new subsidy program to help people charge their electric cars using solar power at home, saying the budget was quickly depleted due to high demand.

BMZ. Germany will suspend development aid loans to China from 2026 and new loans from then on must serve the purpose of protecting the climate and environment.

IANS. Greece will receive around 55 billion euros ( $58.22 billion) in financial support from the EU over the next four to six years to boost the country's economic prospects and recovery.

REUTERS. NATO allies the United States, Italy, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria are taking part in the Triton-2023 exercise in the Black Sea.

America

CNBC. US President Joe Biden is scheduled to hold a summit with EU leaders in Washington on October 20 to discuss strengthening the transatlantic partnership.

CNN. The US announced its decision to include Israel in the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP), starting November 30.

AP. Colombian pop star Shakira is facing a new investigation by Spanish prosecutors for allegedly defrauding the country's tax authorities of 6.6 million euros (nearly 7 million USD).

CNN. The US announced that it would temporarily suspend some aid programs to Gabon after the military took power in the country last August.

AFP. The French ambassador to Niger has left the capital Niamey after weeks of tension between Paris and the West African country's military government.
