On July 13, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center said that they are implementing a construction package under the project to increase accessibility and organize bus routes to metro stations No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).
The contractor is simultaneously constructing 5 parking lots with a total area of 5,472m² next to Van Thanh, Thao Dien, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai stations. In addition, there are 67 bus shelters, 196 bus stops at 11 locations near metro stations and along both sides of the bus network routes connecting to metro line 1.
According to Giao thong Newspaper reporters, at Rach Chiec station area (Thu Duc city), the contractor is rolling and compacting the concrete base and pillars. Meanwhile, Van Thanh station parking lot has been paved with asphalt and has installed protective fences.

Mr. Vo Duc Hung, supervising engineer of the Hong An - Saigon Traffic Joint Venture, said that the contractor has mobilized 70 workers and nearly 20 motorbikes to continuously construct to meet the progress required by the investor. The entire project has reached more than 60% of the total volume. The current advantage is that the contractor has been handed over the entire site. On days when there is unfavorable heavy rain, the contractor will work overtime the next night to make up for the progress.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center said that the parking lots at Thao Dien and Binh Thai stations are currently more than 65% complete, while Rach Chiec and Phuoc Long stations are more than 50%. The parking lot at Van Thanh station is basically complete. It is expected that all items will be completed in August.
Along with parking lots, the city also built new parking lots for public vehicles with a total area of about 3,260 m² at 2 locations near Van Thanh Park Station and Binh Thai.
The project to enhance accessibility and organize connections between bus routes and metro station No. 1 has a total investment of VND92 billion from the city budget. When completed, these items will help people access the stations conveniently.
Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City with a total length of 19.7km, including 2.6km underground and 17.1km above ground. The project is currently 98% complete and aims to be commercially operational in the fourth quarter of this year.
