Speeding up at the construction site of Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant

To put the Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant (Ky Anh Town - Ha Tinh) into operation by 2025, thousands of workers from many contractors are rushing to construct items with the spirit of "day and night".

At the construction site of the Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant Project, located in Hai Phong village, Ky Loi commune, Ky Anh town, there are currently nearly 3,000 workers from many contractors working hard on the construction items.

It is the rainy season in Ha Tinh, so to ensure the progress as committed to the investor, contractors must find many solutions to adapt to the weather and ensure construction safety for workers.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc - Construction Engineer, DOOSAN ENERBILITY Vietnam Co., Ltd. shared: " Doosan is the general contractor of VAPCO, so the unit has a great responsibility in completing the project's progress. To ensure the set progress, Doosan has arranged temporary drainage pipes to avoid flooding of the contractor's items. In addition, the contractors are directed to take advantage of the clear weather to increase labor and work overtime to meet the set progress.

Vinaconex Construction Investment Joint Stock Company is the contractor for the construction of items in Package B (including operating buildings and technical infrastructure) worth over 453 billion VND. Overcoming all difficulties and adverse weather conditions, the contractor is simultaneously implementing the construction of items in the package including: CCB operating building, Turbine house, Chimney foundation, Transformer power station...

Mr. Tran Trung Thieu - Safety Manager of Vinaconex Company said: "Up to this point, the items that the company has contracted have reached about 65% of the planned progress. In the face of heavy rain, in favorable times, we proactively increased night shifts, increased the number of workers to nearly 300 people to strive to complete and hand over the package in April 2024 according to the plan committed to the investor...".

The project's wharf area has a total length of nearly 2,000m and is a complex item because it must be built at sea. The item is difficult to construct and dangerous in rainy and windy weather, so to ensure labor safety, contractors require all workers to wear protective gear and specialized life jackets during work.

The area of ​​the road leading to the wharf is being completed.

The Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant project has a scale of 2 units with a total capacity of 1,330 MW, a total cost of 2.2 billion USD, in the form of BOT, invested by Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited (VAPCO).

The project is constructed by the contractors: Doosan Heavy Industry and Construction Joint Venture, Samsung C&T Group, and Pacific Group Corporation. It is expected that in the third quarter of 2025, the project will be completed and put into commercial operation.

The Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant Project will construct main factory items, coal unloading wharf, ash and slag storage yard, and related auxiliary works.
