The People's Council of Binh Thuan province has just passed a resolution to convert 19.7 hectares of forest to hand over the construction site for the project to renovate and expand National Highway 28B connecting Lam Dong province.
On January 10, the People's Council of Binh Thuan province, term XI, held its 30th session (special session) and passed many important resolutions.
Delegates voted to pass many Resolutions at the first meeting of 2025.
At the meeting, the Provincial People's Council passed a resolution on the policy of changing the purpose of using a forest area of over 19.7 hectares to another purpose to implement the project of renovating and upgrading National Highway 28B (QL28B) through the province.
Of the converted forest area, more than 15 hectares of natural forest land have been approved by the Prime Minister to change its purpose of use. Nearly 2.9 hectares of new natural forest land and nearly 1.8 hectares of planted forest.
The Provincial People's Council also voted to approve the plan for reforestation and the plan for exploiting and utilizing forest products on the converted forest land area according to regulations.
Construction of expanding National Highway 28B through Dai Ninh Pass.
Regarding the site clearance work through Binh Thuan province, Mr. Le Van Chung, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 5, said that the conversion of forest land will create great convenience to speed up the project progress and renovate and expand National Highway 28B.
"The province has recently handed over 17.5km of land under State management. The Board is coordinating with the locality to soon hand over the remaining land," Mr. Chung informed.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B with a total cost of over VND 1,400 billion, has a total length of about 69km, of which the section passing through Binh Thuan province is 51km long. The scale of the road is class III, the design speed is 60-80km/h. The roadbed width is 12m and the road surface is 11m. The project investor is the Vietnam Road Administration, Project Management Board 5 is assigned to manage the project. The expected completion time is in the first quarter of 2026.
After completing the upgrade, this route will connect Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong, Dak Lak provinces, strengthening regional connectivity, meeting transportation needs on the East-West corridor, connecting the Central Highlands region to the South Central provinces.
