Within 3 days (February 3-5), Kien Giang Border Guard force discovered 3 fishing boats carrying a total of about 64,000 liters of DO oil of unknown origin in the southwestern sea of the Fatherland.
On the afternoon of February 6, Kien Giang Border Guard said that at around 7:30 a.m. on February 5, in an area about 9.6 nautical miles east of Tho Chau island commune, the working group of An Thoi Port Border Guard Station coordinated with ship BP-20-19-01 of Tho Chau Border Guard Station to inspect fishing boat KG-91149-TS.
There were 3 other crew members on board, led by Mr. NVN (in Rach Gia City). Upon inspection, it was discovered that the KG-91149-TS contained about 23,000 liters of light yellow liquid suspected to be DO oil.
Mr. N. confessed that the DO oil had no legal documents, and he bought it from another strange ship in Vietnam's waters to resell for profit. The working group then made a record, escorted the people, vehicles and all the evidence to Vinh Dam port (Duong To commune, Phu Quoc city) for investigation and handling.
Previously, on February 3, about 24 nautical miles southwest of An Thoi Cape, the working group of the Border Guard Station at An Thoi Port inspected the fishing boat KG-96113-TS. The boat was captained by Mr. TMT (from An Bien District). The boat was carrying 20,000 liters of DO oil of unknown origin.
At 4:45 p.m. the same day, the unit continued to discover and inspect the fishing boat KG-91060-TS. The boat was captained by Mr. NTC (in Rach Gia City) and contained about 21,000 liters of DO oil of unknown origin.
