On September 5, Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VECE - the route management unit) said that the unit has started repairing expansion joints at P20 pillar, Long Thanh bridge (photo) on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway in the direction from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City.

Repairing Long Thanh Bridge causes congestion on Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway

According to VECE, after being put into operation, the expansion joint at pillar P20, Km12+228 (left side of the route) in the direction of Dong Nai - Ho Chi Minh City had broken rails, so the unit implemented barriers for 2 lanes, each lane is expected to be repaired in 8 days. At about 10:00 a.m. on the same day, the staff installed a 60km/h speed limit sign and fenced off part of the road, and started construction. Because the road surface on the bridge only has 2 lanes, and has been narrowed to 1 lane, cars, trucks, and containers had to line up for more than 2km in the direction from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City to move through the barrier section.

To avoid congestion at Long Thanh Bridge, VECE recommends that vehicles traveling on the expressway from Dau Giay to Ho Chi Minh City to the intersection of National Highway 51, turn right to get to National Highway 51 to Vung Tau intersection and move to Ho Chi Minh City; vehicles traveling in the direction of Phan Thiet - Ho Chi Minh City when passing the toll station Km94+450 moving to the intersection of National Highway 51, turn right to get to National Highway 51 to Vung Tau intersection and move to Ho Chi Minh City, and vehicles traveling on National Highway 51 - Ho Chi Minh City from Ba Ria - Vung Tau province go straight on National Highway 51 to Vung Tau intersection and move to Ho Chi Minh City.
