Exciting and useful activities at the Festival of Typical Families in the provinces and cities of the Southwest region

On August 16, at the Labor Culture House of Dong Thap Provincial Trade Union, a series of activities took place within the framework of the "5th Festival of Typical Families of Provinces and Cities in the Southwest Region, 2024" directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Dong Thap Province, organized by the Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap Province.

The Festival of Typical Families of the provinces and cities of the Southwest region is a cultural event and typical family, held annually to honor, preserve and promote the good traditional cultural values ​​of Vietnamese families in general and families in the Southwest region in particular.

Accordingly, many meaningful, rich and diverse activities such as the Cultural - Artistic, Physical Education - Sports competitions such as: "Talented Family" art performance competition with skits about family; "Colorful Family" fashion show competition; "Weekend Delicious Dishes" cooking competition; "Reading with Children" competition; "Playing with Children" movement competition... took place enthusiastically with the participation, response and competition of 63 families from 13 provinces in the Southwest region and the enthusiastic cheering of many people and tourists.

With the theme "Happy Family, Prosperous Nation", the activities held at the Festival not only bring joy and connection between families but also help spread the unique cultural values ​​of the regions, an opportunity to promote the image and people of Dong Thap - the Land of Pink Lotus "loyalty, dynamism, creativity, cultural and civilized behavior".

The "Playing with Children" sports competition is one of 05 competition contents within the framework of the activities of the Typical Family Festival of the provinces and cities in the Southwest region this year. Each team sends 01 household to participate in the "Picking Lotus Together" sports competition, with 03 members including father, mother and child. Families with children participating are between 08 and 18 years old.

Regarding the competition content, each family member will take turns completing the following challenges: Jumping 10 meters in a sack, crossing a bamboo bridge and moving to the point to pick lotus seeds, then moving back, crossing the bamboo bridge and putting them in a basket. This competition requires each family member to coordinate flexibly and smoothly, creating a close bond, to achieve the highest results.

A large number of spectators and tourists participated in cheering and supporting the families in the competitions.

The families all clearly showed their efforts and determination to win in each competition.

In the cooking competition "Weekend Delicacies", the teams cook 01 typical dish that is a specialty of the province or city. The teams prepare their own ingredients. The ingredients are fresh, clean, and ensure food hygiene and safety. The teams can use pre-processed, pre-marinated, and uncooked ingredients. The use of local ingredients is encouraged.

According to the representative of the Organizing Committee, family meals are the soul of reunion, love, nurturing the human soul, a place to connect emotions, unite members, create a cozy family atmosphere, dispel fatigue and worries in life.

At the competition, each team had 60 minutes to prepare a family meal, with typical local dishes decorated in an extremely attractive and eye-catching way.

Through the interesting experiences during the festival days, the Organizing Committee hopes that delegates and visitors will keep beautiful memories of the culture and people of Dong Thap "Friendly - Dynamic - Creative".

Based on the results, the Organizing Committee will announce and award prizes including: 01 First Prize, 02 Second Prizes, 03 Third Prizes and 07 Encouragement Prizes for families with excellent achievements in the following competitions: Art performance "Talented Family"; Fashion show "Colorful Family"; Cooking competition "Weekend Delicacies"; Competition "Reading with Children".

In the "Playing with Children" game competition, the outstanding families will be awarded 01 First Prize, 01 Second Prize, 02 Third Prizes and 09 Consolation Prizes by the Organizing Committee. At the same time, the Organizing Committee will also award 01 First Prize, 01 Second Prize, 01 Third Prize to the groups with the highest overall results.

In addition, to create a playground for families and tourists, the Festival also organizes a photo exhibition "Family - Loving Home" of provinces and cities in the Southwest region, displays OCOP products of provinces and cities in the Southwest region and a program to visit typical historical, cultural and tourist sites of Dong Thap province...
