On January 10, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province held a conference to review the activities of the Board of Directors of the Provincial Bank for Social Policies (BSP) in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024.
In 2023, the credit programs of the Bank for Social Policies of Soc Trang province reached more than 725.6 billion VND, an increase of 17.9% compared to the end of 2022. Of which, policy credit capital for near-poor households was 36 billion VND (up 5.9%), newly escaped poverty households was 135 billion VND (up 10.13%), job creation support was 30 billion VND (up 23.48%), clean water and rural environmental sanitation was 140 billion VND (up 22.5%)... Raising the total outstanding debt to more than 5,171 billion VND, with more than 157,000 customers.
In addition, in 2023, the Social Policy Bank of Soc Trang province was entrusted by the locality with over 57 billion VND from the budget (of which 30 billion VND is from the provincial budget).
From policy credit capital, it has supported investment capital for production and business, created jobs for more than 43,200 households; helped more than 556 students in difficult circumstances to borrow capital for studying; helped 1,409 poor households, 3,546 near-poor households and 10,513 newly escaped-poverty households to have capital for production; built and repaired 12,818 clean water works and 12,068 sanitation works; 48 cases of people who have completed their prison sentences have been able to borrow policy credit capital to stabilize their lives and integrate into the community...
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Van Lau, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, highly appreciated and commended the results achieved by the Bank for Social Policies of Soc Trang province in 2023. In particular, the effective implementation of policy lending programs has contributed to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, narrowing the gap between rich and poor, pushing back black credit, ensuring social security and social order and safety.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province awarded certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 20 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing policy credit programs in the area.
