The number of social housing in 2024 increased by 46%

(CLO) According to the report of the Ministry of Construction, in 2024, 28 social housing projects, equivalent to 20,284 units, were completed, an increase of about 46% compared to 2023.

In a report sent to the Prime Minister at an online conference with localities, the leader of the Ministry of Construction said: 2024 is a year with many difficulties and challenges not only for the construction industry but also for the country's economy in general.

Especially when storm No. 3 Yagi passed through the North of our country, with its heavy destruction, it affected the growth of the whole country in general and the construction industry in particular. However, the construction industry still recorded some great achievements in housing development and the real estate market.

Specifically, regarding social housing development, this is a segment that the entire political system is interested in. In 2024, the whole country will have 28 projects with a scale of 20,284 completed units, an increase of about 46% compared to 2023, equivalent to about 6,420 units.

At the same time, during the year, 23 projects with a scale of 25,399 units were licensed and started construction, an increase of about 13% compared to 2023, equivalent to about 3,000 units.

The number of projects approved for investment policy is 113 projects, equivalent to 142,450 units, an increase of about 101% compared to 2023. Most localities have implemented planning and arranged land funds to develop social housing.

Accordingly, nationwide, 1,309 locations with a scale of about 9,756 hectares of land have been planned for social housing. The credit program of 120,000 billion VND for preferential loans to develop social housing, workers' housing, and renovate and rebuild apartments: banks have committed to providing loans of about 4,000 billion VND, with loan turnover reaching 2,360 billion VND (2,162 billion VND for investors in 17 projects; 198 billion VND for home buyers in 15 projects).

Regarding housing policy for people with revolutionary contributions, the Ministry of Construction has advised the Prime Minister to issue Decision 21, stipulating the level of support for new construction or renovation and repair of houses for people with revolutionary contributions, relatives of martyrs and the rate of allocation of support capital from the central budget, the rate of counterpart support capital from the local budget for the period 2023 - 2025.

Regarding real estate market management, in 2024, the Government and the Prime Minister also issued nearly 20 documents including resolutions, directives, decisions, telegrams, etc. with many specific and drastic solutions and tasks to remove difficulties and obstacles, promote the development of social housing and the real estate market to develop safely, healthily and sustainably.

At the same time, implementing the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister's Working Group on removing difficulties and obstacles for real estate projects in localities and enterprises has proactively reviewed and classified difficulties and obstacles of projects; guided, urged and proactively removed them.

In 2024, the Working Group received 47 documents on difficulties, obstacles and recommendations from localities, people and businesses (including: 03 documents from localities; 18 documents from people; 26 documents from 22 businesses) related to 32 real estate projects.

According to the assigned functions, tasks and authority, the Working Group issued 25 documents to handle the 47 recommendations mentioned above. It can be said that the difficulties and obstacles in implementing real estate projects have been gradually resolved, and the real estate supply has gradually improved.

"With the simultaneous implementation of many solutions, removing difficulties for real estate projects, it is forecasted that in the coming time, the supply of housing, especially social housing, will have positive changes, helping the real estate market gradually improve and overcome the most difficult period," the report of the Ministry of Construction stated.
