Last night (November 30), students at Hoa Sen University circulated a clip recording a student beating a friend and acting aggressively, insulting a lecturer, making viewers angry. Some students said that the student in the clip even wanted to expel the lecturer from the school.
"You hate me, you talk nonsense"
Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Mr. Le Thai Huy, Director of the Center for Communication - Student Job Experience at Hoa Sen University, said the above incident took place on the afternoon of November 28 during a general law class.
"The student who beat up his classmate is named PNCV, class 23, majoring in fashion design. On November 29, the Student Communication and Work Experience Center verified, contacted, and met to get information from relevant parties including the lecturer, student V., fellow students, and parents," Mr. Huy informed.
PNCV student (red shirt) slaps friend in classroom
On the morning of December 1, Hoa Sen University held a meeting between the center's leaders, the director of the fashion design department, representatives of the University Training Department, Ms. TNNT, a lecturer of the general law department, student V., student TKK (beaten), PNAT (same class) and KK's parents.
At the meeting, V. said that he did not accept the lecturer assigning assignments at the beginning of class because it was unreasonable. "I also do not agree with the lecturer's questions, the lecturer did not respect the students, often interrupted my questions, her words implied that she hated fat students, after the students complained, she had an indifferent attitude...", this student said.
V. also said that when she spoke, the lecturer should lower his head and not raise his head. "I thought that my friends were stealing my brains, and asked her to resolve it, but she hated me and talked nonsense. At that time, K. had 'delusions of power', I hated her, so I went to slap her, but T. tried to stop her, so I hit T.", the female student added the reason why she got into a fight.
The female student also admitted that she asked the training department to report to the principal to fire the lecturer after the incident in class.
Ms. TNNT responded: "She assigned homework in class, and I also participated that day. She also uploaded the homework to the mlearning system, so I can't say I didn't know she assigned the homework, and that she made it difficult for me. She assigned the homework in advance so that students could actively learn it, unlike the high school learning method."
Regarding V.'s accusation that the slides his classmate was presenting were plagiarizing his ideas, Ms. T. said that because there was not enough evidence, she would let the student continue presenting and then resolve the issue of whether or not there was "plagiarism."
As the person who was slapped, student KK said: "We were upset because V. behaved inappropriately towards the lecturer, so we reacted. Therefore, he rushed to hit me." Both students KK and AT commented that the lecturer had effective teaching methods and was considerate towards students in the class.
Received the highest level of discipline: forced expulsion
Ms. Dang Thi Hue, Head of the Academic Affairs Department of the Graduate Training Department, said that all students and lecturers must comply with the school's rules and regulations upon entering the school. "The school always cares about students by building facilities, teaching staff, and teaching quality. Therefore, students must also comply with the school's regulations," Ms. Hue shared.
Therefore, according to Mr. Le Thai Huy, PNCV students violated the school's Student Regulations. "With inappropriate behavior when communicating with subject lecturers and hitting friends during class, the school will handle students according to the Student Regulations at the highest level of expulsion. School representatives, subject lecturers and the industry have also met with students, reassured students and informed their parents," said Mr. Huy. In addition, the school also reminded and reprimanded students who posted videos on social networks.
It is known that previously, on November 30, a representative of the Student Media and Work Experience Center called PNCV's parents to inform them about the incident and invite them to a meeting, but because the parents lived far away, they did not attend the meeting. The parents also agreed with the school's disciplinary action of forcing V to leave school.
