The number of annual exchange scholarships between Vietnam and Bulgaria will increase.

NDO - According to the Education Cooperation Agreement for the 2025-2028 period between Vietnam and Bulgaria that has just been signed, the two sides have agreed to increase the number of annual exchange scholarships at all levels from undergraduate to doctoral. The new education cooperation document also considers the possibility of training cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, artificial intelligence, new materials science, etc.


Within the framework of the visit of President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and his wife to Vietnam, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and Minister of Education and Science of Bulgaria Galin Tsokov, on behalf of the two Governments, signed the Agreement on Cooperation on Education for the period 2025-2028.

According to the recently signed cooperation document, in addition to traditional cooperation in previously signed documents, the two sides agreed to increase the number of annual exchange scholarships at all levels from undergraduate to doctoral from 2 scholarships to 5 scholarships per year.

In addition, the new educational cooperation document also considers the possibility of training cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and new materials science, in which Bulgaria has strengths and Vietnam has great demand.

Vietnam and Bulgaria have a long and excellent history of traditional cooperation. In 2025, the two countries will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the official establishment of diplomatic relations. In terms of educational and training cooperation, the two countries maintain an effective and comprehensive cooperative relationship.

Over the past 75 years, Bulgaria has helped train a large number of experts, engineers and technicians in Vietnam who are well-trained and knowledgeable. Upon returning home, they have made great contributions to the struggle to defend the Fatherland and build Vietnam.

According to statistics, about 5,000 out of more than 30,000 Vietnamese citizens who have been trained in Bulgaria have graduated from university level or higher at Bulgarian universities. Returning to work in their home country, they are the bridge, creating a special friendship between the two countries.

Vietnam and Bulgaria signed cooperation programs in the field of education and training in 2007, 2012, 2019, the latest being the Cooperation Agreement for the period 2025-2028 just signed in Hanoi.

On the basis of signed documents, educational and training cooperation between the two countries is maintained and strengthened through various forms of cooperation such as annual scholarship exchanges, language promotion and cultural diversity development, exchange of Vietnamese language teachers in Bulgaria and Bulgarian language teachers in Vietnam, promoting direct cooperation between universities and a number of other cooperation activities.
