The above information was shared by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An, Chairman of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, before the dialogue between the Minister and teachers, managers, and employees of the education and training sector in 2023, held on August 15.
The dialogue took place in the context of the number of teachers quitting their jobs in recent times continuing to increase. In the 2022-2023 school year alone, more than 9,000 teachers nationwide asked to leave the profession.

The dialogue consists of 2 sessions: session 1 dialogue with high school teachers and session 2 dialogue with lecturers and scientists.
The content of the dialogue revolved around three main issues. First, the management and direction of the Ministry of Education and Training. Second, the difficulties and inadequacies in teaching, salaries and allowances for teachers. Third, the solutions of the Minister and the Ministry of Education and Training for the shortcomings in the past time.
A representative of the Ministry of Education and Training confirmed the above information and said that the meeting between Minister Nguyen Kim Son and teachers was one of the events marking the innovation of the Ministry of Education and Training in listening to and accompanying teachers.
The dialogue will be held directly at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Training and connected to 63 online bridges across the country. This is a forum for teachers to share their thoughts, aspirations and initiatives to make the education sector more and more perfect, becoming the ideal working environment it is.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, by the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the country has 1,234,124 preschool and general education teachers (an increase of 71,927 people compared to the 2021-2022 school year).
Compared to the set target, the whole country still lacks 118,253 teachers, an increase of 11,308 people compared to the 2021-2022 school year. Of which, preschool level increased by 7,887 teachers, primary level increased by 169 people, secondary level increased by 1,207 people, high school level increased by 2,045 people.
In particular, the wave of teachers leaving public schools continues to increase. Of the 19,300 teachers who will leave in 2022-2023, 9,295 will leave, while the remaining 10,094 will retire under the regime.
