In an announcement made today, Michelin Guide has added Da Nang to its list of gourmet destinations.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of Michelin Guides, said: "We are delighted to continue the Michelin Guide journey in Vietnam. After a great start early last year in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the addition of Da Nang to the Michelin Guide list is further evidence of the vibrancy and quality of Vietnamese cuisine as well as the richness and authenticity of the local cuisine. Our inspectors are now on the ground making restaurant selections that we will be proud to share in June not only with local gourmets but also with domestic food lovers and international visitors."
Da Nang will join Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in having a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Known globally as a popular tourist destination, Da Nang is also a true paradise for food lovers, according to the Michelin Guide. As a proud ambassador of Central Vietnamese cuisine, Da Nang has impressed the Michelin Guide inspectors with the quality and variety of local specialties available, be it Quang noodles, fish noodle soup or banh xeo... Fresh seafood restaurants are a must, as well as street food, and the Michelin inspectors sat on the sidewalk to enjoy the culinary quintessence.

The expansion of the Michelin Guide to Vietnam is supported by Sun Group. The Michelin Guide will recognize the selection of restaurants in Da Nang in a universal and historical way. Therefore, local restaurants are being evaluated anonymously, collectively and independently by Michelin Guide inspectors according to 5 criteria: Quality of ingredients; mastery of cooking techniques; harmony of flavors; personality of cuisine; consistency over time and throughout the entire menu.
Michelin Guide awarded stars to four Vietnamese restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for the first time last June; 102 other restaurants were honored in three sub-categories.
