On November 20, fresh flower prices increased sharply.
As Vietnamese Teachers’ Day approaches on November 20, flower shops in Hanoi are bustling. Employees are constantly importing goods and decorating in all sorts of styles to serve the sudden increase in customers.
Flower stalls have sprung up like mushrooms, spilling out onto sidewalks and even into small alleys. According to a survey, the prices of many types of flowers have increased by 20-30% compared to normal days.
Specifically, Da Lat roses cost 20,000 VND/flower, hydrangeas cost 25,000 - 30,000 VND/flower, sunflowers cost 25,000 - 30,000 VND/branch, gerberas and carnations cost 7,000 - 9,000 VND/flower...
Due to scarcity, daisies are also quite expensive during this time, priced at 150,000 - 180,000 VND/bunch. Meanwhile, imported flowers, despite their "burning" prices, still attract customers, such as Ecuadorian roses priced at 130,000 - 150,000 VND/bloom, imported baby flowers priced at 700,000 - 1,800,000 VND/bunch.
Bouquets of flowers come in a variety of styles and are priced from 350,000 - 1,000,000 VND/bouquet, while high-end flowers cost from several million to tens of millions of VND/bouquet.
Many flower baskets are elaborately decorated according to customer orders.
The owner of a flower shop on Nguyen Phong Sac Street (Cau Giay District) said that this year people are quite fond of fresh flowers, so most of the flower stalls are busy.
"This whole week, my shop has been open from early morning to late at night. Because many parents take advantage of taking their children to school to buy flowers for their teachers, we have to prepare the goods early to serve customers," he said.
In addition to fresh flowers, fruits are also chosen as gifts on November 20. Imported fruit baskets cost from 350,000 - 1,000,000 VND/basket.
In addition, silk flowers and wax flowers are also supplemented with many new designs by traders, priced from 150,000 - 300,000 VND.
Customers have been busy choosing flowers since morning...
...late at night.
Fresh flower sellers expect the number of customers to continue to increase for a bumper harvest season, before preparing for the Tet flower season.
