Gang of thugs sentenced to 97 years in prison for chasing young man who fell into ditch and died

Quang Nam Provincial People's Court has just opened a trial of Tran Dinh Anh Quoc (20 years old, residing in Dai Quang commune, Dai Loc district, Quang Nam) and 11 accomplices for the crime of Murder.

According to the indictment, at around 10:00 p.m. on February 5, 2022, in Dai Cuong commune, Dai Loc district, a conflict occurred between Quoc and Nguyen Thanh Long (19 years old, residing in Dai Cuong commune). During the argument, Long threw a brick, injuring Quoc's hand. Afterwards, both were stopped by people.

Because of the resentment of being beaten, Anh Quoc asked a group of friends including: Le Khac Ky Duong, Tran Cong Hoang Quoc, Tran Cong Quang, Phan Thanh Duy, Tran Van Ngoc An, Huynh Tan Phat, Le Nguyen Ngoc Chien, Vo Tan Dat, Phan Ta Khai, Mai Ngoc Duy and Mai Ngoc Phuc (all residing in Dai Loc district) to prepare 4 knives to find and beat Long.

While passing by Lucky Ly coffee shop in Trang Dien village - Gia Nam, Dai Cuong commune, Anh Quoc's group discovered Long with Nguyen Van Vuong (23 years old, residing in Dai Cuong commune) and 4 young men sitting in the shop.

Immediately, Duong, Quang, and Hoang Quoc rushed into the shop with knives and chased Long's group. When Vuong climbed over the fence to escape, Duong used a knife to slash his shoulder. After that, Vuong jumped over the fence to escape but unfortunately fell into the ditch, causing him to lose consciousness and drown to death.

After reviewing the case file, the panel of judges decided to sentence the defendants Anh Quoc to 14 years in prison, Duong to 14 years in prison, Ngoc Duy to 12 years in prison, Quang to 9.5 years in prison, Hoang Quoc to 9 years in prison, Dat to 8 years in prison, Thanh Duy to 7.5 years in prison, An to 7 years in prison, Phat to 6 years in prison, Chien to 4 years in prison, Phuc to 3 years in prison and Khai to 3 years in prison but with a suspended sentence.
