Early in the morning, many fishing boats from Xuan Yen commune, Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh) docked one after another, their holds filled with fresh silver pomfret fish.

According to local fishermen, silver pomfret appears near the coast from July to September (Al) every year. During this time, due to favorable weather, many schools of silver pomfret appear in the fishing grounds, and fishermen catch a large quantity.

When the boat docked, traders were waiting to assist the boat owner in bringing the fish ashore, sorting and selling them. The silver pomfret was purchased by traders at a price ranging from 40,000 - 60,000 VND/kg, then brought to wholesale markets inside and outside the area for sale.

Talking to PV Dan Viet, Mr. Pham Trung Thanh - Chairman of Xuan Yen Commune People's Committee, said: "The whole commune currently has about 200 ships of various capacities. On this occasion, the weather is favorable, fishermen go out to sea about 10-15 nautical miles from shore, catching many fresh silver pomfret fish".

"During several hours at sea, the boat caught the most silver pomfret, earning about 3-4 million VND. In addition to silver pomfret, local fishermen also caught a lot of herring and some other valuable seafood, bringing in a significant source of income, so they were very happy, excited, and confident to go out to sea," said Mr. Pham Trung Thanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Yen Commune, Nghi Xuan District, Ha Tinh Province.
