Determined to defeat U23 Vietnam, U23 Malaysia prepares carefully for U23 Asia

At the 2024 AFC U23 Championship taking place next April, U23 Malaysia will be in the same group as U23 Vietnam, U23 Uzbekistan and U23 Kuwait. To prepare for this tournament, the coaching staff of U23 Malaysia under the leadership of coach Juan Torres Garrido has made a very detailed plan.

Accordingly, U23 Malaysia will have 6 friendly matches in late March and early April. The first opponent of this team has been determined to be U23 India. After that, U23 Malaysia will move early to Qatar to get familiar with the field before playing a friendly match with U23 Japan.

The 2024 AFC U23 Championship is also the 2024 Olympic qualifiers, with the top three teams qualifying for France. Malaysian Football Federation President Hamidin Mohd Amin affirmed that the goal of Malaysia U23 is to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Mr. Hamidin Mohd Amin said that if Malaysia U23 can do this, it will be a miracle similar to the Malaysian national team winning a ticket to the World Cup.

In the past, Malaysian football participated in the Olympic men's football twice in 1972 and 1980. However, that was the time when the Organizing Committee did not limit the age of participating players to U23.

According to the schedule, the match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Malaysia will take place on April 20 at Khalifa Stadium in Al Rayyan (Qatar).
