Determined to remove black spots on National Highway 4D

In Lung Vai Commune (Muong Khuong), National Highway 4D runs through 6 villages: Trung Tam, Ban Sinh, Dong Cam, Giap Cu, Cho Chau and Na Ha, with a total length of nearly 10 km. Previously, on average every 1.5 km of National Highway 4D running through the commune, there was a point where traffic accidents frequently occurred, including serious accidents that caused injuries or even death.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Luong, Chairman of Lung Vai Commune People's Committee, said: Previously, National Highway 4D running through Lung Vai Commune had a steep slope and many curved sections with limited visibility, so traveling on this route was very difficult, especially during rainy and foggy times.

To help people travel conveniently and safely, contributing to socio-economic development, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Transport to coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and localities to mobilize resources to upgrade and repair, determined to eliminate black spots on National Highway 4D, from Ban Phiet commune to Muong Khuong town.

From 2021 to the end of 2023, the Road Maintenance Management Board, Department of Transport has invested and implemented 5 projects to upgrade, repair and remove black spots on National Highway 4D, from Ban Phiet commune to Muong Khuong town. Currently, the Road Maintenance Management Board, Department of Transport is implementing 2 more projects on National Highway 4D, from Ban Phiet commune to Muong Khuong town, including: Handling of dangerous traffic safety routes at Km179+600 and handling of traffic accident black spots at Km174 - Km175. The total investment cost of 7 projects is more than 82.35 billion VND.

Mr. Kieu Van Dung, Deputy Director of the Road Maintenance Management Board, Department of Transport, said: When implementing the projects, we have received positive support from local authorities and people, especially, the site clearance has been very smooth, meeting the construction schedule. When the projects are completed, the travel time of people on National Highway 4D, from Ban Phiet commune to Muong Khuong town and vice versa will be shortened by 1/3 compared to before.

According to the reporter's observation, the small radius curves or black spots have been handled, especially the visibility for drivers has been expanded. The system of signs, convex mirrors, speed bumps, etc. have also been installed and built. Mr. Tran Van Le, Lung Vai commune said: The road is wider and more beautiful than before, people transport pineapples and tea to processing factories more conveniently and safely.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Luong added: Convenient traffic will help the locality have more opportunities for economic development. In particular, since the black spots on National Highway 4D, the section passing through Lung Vai commune were handled, traffic accidents have decreased sharply. From 2023 to now, on National Highway 4D, the section passing through Lung Vai commune, there have been only 3 traffic collisions, causing no loss of life or property.

Ban Lau Commune (Muong Khuong District) has 8 km of National Highway 4D running through it. The authorities and people of Ban Lau Commune are very happy when the road section is upgraded, repaired, and black spots are removed. Mr. Hoang Van Kien, Chairman of Ban Lau Commune People's Committee, said: People are very excited when the State invests in upgrading, repairing, expanding, and removing many points at risk of traffic accidents on National Highway 4D, the section running through Ban Lau Commune. Currently, on National Highway 4D, the section running through Ban Lau Commune, there are no more black spots, so traffic accidents have decreased sharply. From the beginning of 2023 until now, there has only been 1 minor collision, with no casualties...

The effectiveness of the projects to upgrade, repair and remove black spots on National Highway 4D, from Ban Phiet Commune to Muong Khuong Town, is very clear. Muong Khuong residents in particular and the surrounding area in general hope that the remaining projects will be completed soon, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety, creating opportunities for local socio-economic development.
