Speaking at the Conference, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly highly appreciated the theme of the 147th IPU General Assembly "Parliamentary action for peace, justice and strong institutions" associated with the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16 to affirm the role and actions of legislative bodies around the world in making efforts and joining hands with the international community in realizing the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the IPU Action Strategy for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
Reviewing the important achievements in sustainable development and poverty reduction in Vietnam after 37 years of implementing the Doi Moi process since 1986 and sharing Vietnam's sustainable development goals by 2030, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh affirmed the role of the Vietnamese National Assembly, as the highest representative body of the People, the highest state power body, with a particularly important role in reforming the country's institutions and providing supreme supervision, in ensuring the implementation of sustainable development strategies.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh emphasized: “The Vietnamese National Assembly welcomes the active role of the IPU and always closely coordinates with the IPU in promoting dialogue and cooperation, supporting member parliaments to enhance connectivity, exchange experiences, and propose practical solutions to contribute to building sustainable peace in the world.”

According to the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, following the success of the 132nd IPU Assembly held in Vietnam in 2015 with the theme: "Parliament with the Sustainable Development Goals: Turning words into action", in September 2023, the Vietnamese National Assembly coordinated with the IPU to successfully organize the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, for the first time after 9 conferences, adopting the Declaration on "The role of youth in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovation", demonstrating the determination, high consensus as well as strong commitment of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Parliaments of countries and IPU Parliamentarians in promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals on a global scale.
On behalf of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh also made a number of recommendations for national parliaments and the IPU to cooperate and coordinate to accelerate the implementation of sustainable development goals in the remaining half of the journey.

Among them, it is worth noting the recommendation to pay attention to making sustainable development goals a priority focus in national target programs, overall socio-economic development programs and the National Assembly's working programs.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also emphasized the need to promote solidarity and strengthen cooperation among countries so that developing countries can access international financial, technological and technical resources from international organizations and developing countries for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

On the same day, the Vice President of the National Assembly had bilateral meetings including meetings with Permanent Vice President of the Angolan National Assembly Americo Antonio Cuononoca; President of the Tanzanian National Assembly Tulia Ackson, candidate for the upcoming IPU President term, and President of the Maltese National Assembly Angelo Farrugia.
At the bilateral meetings, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh and parliamentarians from various countries shared their views on the contents discussed at IPU 147 as well as bilateral relations and relations between parliaments.

At the end of the day, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh and the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola and a large Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Angola.
In the warm and friendly atmosphere of the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Angola Duong Chinh Chuc introduced to the delegation the work of the Embassy as well as reviewed the living conditions of about 8,000 Vietnamese people in Angola. Warmly congratulating Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh and the National Assembly delegation on their visit to Angola, representatives of the Vietnamese community in Angola also shared their joys and sorrows, difficulties and successes in life.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh highly appreciated the work of the Embassy's staff as well as the spirit of love, support and mutual affection of the Vietnamese community in Angola.
Summarizing the content of the working session with the Permanent Vice President of the Angolan National Assembly earlier the same day, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Angola receives much attention and affection from the leaders of the host country. The Vice President of the National Assembly expressed his hope that the Embassy and the people will continue to support each other in life and work.
