On March 31 and April 1, a series of events took place in Quang Ninh to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Fisheries Industry (April 1, 1959 - April 1, 2024). The above events are included in Plan 78/KH-UBND dated March 20, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on organizing the "Conference on sustainable development of marine aquaculture - View from Quang Ninh".
In order to evaluate and commend the participants in organizing the event, on the afternoon of April 5, in Quang Ninh, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ninh organized a summary of the results achieved at the Conference.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Son commented: “The conference on sustainable development of marine aquaculture - View from Quang Ninh has ended successfully. After the conference, many good news and positive signals have opened up, especially attracting many investors to Quang Ninh”.

“The Provincial Party Standing Committee has issued Directive No. 13 on strengthening the management and development of marine fisheries. After the recent Conference, the Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee directed the development of a master plan on sustainable development of the province's fisheries to 2030 and orientation to 2045, upgrading the Directive to a Resolution of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on developing the fisheries economy,” Mr. Son added.
In addition, according to Mr. Son, in the near future, Quang Ninh will renovate the fishing port and invest in 3 more ports, 1 industry port, 1 general port in Dam Ha district and 1 logistics area for developing marine aquaculture of the province in Ha Long. In addition, the province has also assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ninh to study and complete the model of conservation and protection of marine areas.
“This is the first time the Department of Fisheries, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper and Quang Ninh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development have joined together to implement a program, but it has been very successful. After the Conference, many things need to continue to be done,” Mr. Son emphasized.
Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper Le Trong Dam shared that the Newspaper is very happy to accompany the units to organize the "Conference on sustainable development of marine aquaculture - View from Quang Ninh". The preparation time was not much but the results have left great echoes, very good media effects.
“The conference attracted the attention of speakers and the participation of many domestic and international delegates. The fish release ceremony was large-scale and very professional, bringing many emotions. The gift products were very meaningful, demonstrating and promoting aquatic products from Quang Ninh… In the coming time, there is still a lot of potential for cooperation between units,” said Mr. Le Trong Dam.
Mr. Le Trong Dam, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, reported on communication work at the Marine Farming Conference in Quang Ninh.
Mr. Tran Van Cao, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper added that through this Conference, the press and colleagues highly appreciated the communication work as well as the way Quang Ninh organized the event.
Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper has a lot of experience in organizing events, especially the most recent Global Conference on Sustainable Food Systems, the Vietnam - Hau Giang International Rice Festival 2023... These are international events that have created a reputation and prestige domestically and internationally. Accordingly, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Tran Van Cao expressed his wish to continue to cooperate and improve the quality of cooperation in all aspects in the coming time.
Mr. Tran Dinh Luan, Director of the Department of Fisheries, emphasized: “Those of us who work in fisheries development are very happy. The sea is vast, but there are not many people who care about, love the sea, and want to develop its potential. We need a leading locality to spread the spirit to other provinces and cities. Quang Ninh has done this very well after the recent Sea Farming Conference.”
Mr. Luan assessed that the Conference was very successful, with many domestic and international organizations paying attention, creating a great resonance. The Conference also brought about a double effect when it was about to welcome the European Commission (EC) Inspection Delegation to Vietnam on the issue of combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, so that the other side could see that our moves are really to reduce exploitation, increase aquaculture, and move towards green and sustainable development.
Mr. Luan said: “The conference was successful, but after the conference there is still a lot to do. We must build a green - clean - beautiful farming area, the products must have clear traceability. The market capacity is very large but fragmented production is difficult to conquer, only the way of organizing production can capture the market capacity. We try so that in 5 years from now, looking from above, we will see the desired marine farms. Quang Ninh province has done well, but in the coming time, we will do even better together.”
According to information from the Organizing Committee, the Conference on Sustainable Marine Aquaculture Development - View from Quang Ninh took place from March 31 to April 1 in Quang Ninh, attracting 450 delegates to attend in person and 3,619 delegates to attend online at more than 200 locations. Among them, there were 30 international delegates; 72 central delegates; 35 delegates from 14 coastal provinces and cities; 121 delegates from Quang Ninh province; 115 enterprises and cooperatives inside and outside the province; 77 reporters from 40 newspapers and radio stations inside and outside the province.
