On April 1, in Ha Long City, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with Quang Ninh province to organize a conference on Sustainable Development of Marine Aquaculture, seen from Quang Ninh with the theme "Marine aquaculture, for a green source of life for future generations".
At the conference, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan stated that in recent times, Quang Ninh has made positive changes in the development of the aquaculture industry, gradually turning this industry into a spearhead economy, and the province into a center of marine economy. With synchronous infrastructure and technology, Quang Ninh has begun to form a marine farming ecosystem with more than 100 cooperatives established within 2 years.
There are unique models combining high-tech marine farming with experiential tourism. Recently, dolphins have continuously appeared in the sea, proving that Quang Ninh sea is getting cleaner and more beautiful.
Minister Le Minh Hoan also said that Vietnam will become a strong and rich maritime country if it has a clean ecosystem. Looking from Quang Ninh, within 2 years, nearly 10 million foam buoys have been replaced, which shows that nothing is impossible if there is determination.
"Overexploitation is the pain of the marine economy. Marine aquaculture is not only about raising shrimp, fish, and seafood, but also about raising marine ecology. Marine aquaculture is to solve the pain of the ocean, which is that natural resources are increasingly depleted. Marine aquaculture must be an economic problem that brings livelihoods and income to fishermen, businesses, and growth to localities. At the same time, we must nurture the ocean, ecology, biodiversity, and return to the ocean what has been overexploited so that future generations will still have resources," Minister Le Minh Hoan shared at the conference.
Minister Le Minh Hoan requested that after the conference, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continue to record and summarize the obstacles that are slowing down the progress of marine farming, causing difficulties for localities, businesses, cooperatives, and people.
At the same time, develop technical standards and regulations to overcome the situation of spontaneous farming in the past. Coordinate with relevant ministries and sectors to promote the seaweed farming and processing industry and other potentials. Pay attention to promoting research and international cooperation on marine economy and marine farming science and technology.
Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Ky affirmed that with its potential and advantages in the sea, Quang Ninh also aims to become the seafood center of the North by 2030.
Quang Ninh has planned 45,246 hectares of marine area for marine aquaculture development with the view of comprehensive development in the direction of modernity, high-tech application, environmental friendliness, value-added, sustainability associated with conservation, protection, development of aquatic resources, development of tourism, services, industry and protection of sovereignty and security of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
In particular, innovating the structure of breeds and farming products to suit the advantages of each region, improving productivity and quality of aquatic products. Developing concentrated marine farming areas, effectively applying modern scientific and technological achievements to production and organizing modern production.
