Quang Nam will continue to review and evaluate mechanisms and policies to make appropriate proposals towards sustainable development for the collective economic sector, helping cooperatives to be ready to adapt to the constant fluctuations of the economy and market.
According to information from the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Nam province, there are currently 613 cooperatives operating in the province. Of these, more than 400 are in the agricultural sector, 35 are in the industrial and handicraft sector, 20 are in the transportation sector, and the rest are in the fields of trade, services, tourism, environment and market management, etc.
In recent years, many cooperatives in Quang Nam have boldly expanded production, aiming to supply products to the market and export. Some cooperatives also focus on building brands, diversifying their links with economic sectors to expand markets, increase income for members and orient sustainable development.
Many cooperatives have invested in modern technology in production, processing and packaging of products such as freeze-dried cordyceps mushrooms of Quang Nam Cordyceps Mushroom Cooperative (Tam Ky City), tea bags of Tay Giang Agricultural and Medicinal Materials Cooperative (Tay Giang District)... However, after a long period of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the operations of cooperatives have been severely affected, especially in the context that most cooperatives are still small-scale, with facilities and resources that have not met market requirements.

The cooperative's consumer market is mainly households and small retailers in the province. Moreover, the cooperative's internal capacity still has many shortcomings, from the lack of high-quality human resources to the management team being mostly old and not active in the market; the facilities are also deteriorating, while the production technology is still backward.
According to the representative of Dien Hong 2 Agricultural Cooperative (Dien Ban town), although the State has issued many support policies, cooperatives still face difficulties in accessing them due to complicated procedures. Current support policies are still fragmented, cooperatives that benefit from one policy will not benefit from another, while the needs of cooperatives are very diverse. To overcome difficulties, it is necessary to create conditions for flexible access to capital, prioritizing support for cooperatives with legitimate needs to develop production...
In order to support the development of cooperatives, the People's Council of Quang Nam province issued Resolution No. 25/2021/NQ-HDND, stipulating a number of mechanisms to support the collective economy in the period of 2021-2025. The Provincial Cooperative Union also promotes trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand inside and outside the province to help cooperatives promote products and expand markets. By 2025, the province aims to establish 40 to 50 new cooperatives, build 4 cooperative unions and coordinate with localities in the province to deploy at least 2 new cooperative models, linked to product value chains, to increase the average revenue of cooperatives by 4% - 5% per year.

Mr. Le Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, said that cooperatives are an important component in local economic development, but the quality and brand of cooperative products are not really commensurate with the potential of the province. To promote the role of cooperatives, it is necessary to step up propaganda so that people and cooperative members can better understand this model, avoiding misunderstandings about traditional production methods. The government also needs to strengthen state management, promote the implementation of issued policies and guidelines, and review and revise documents that are no longer suitable to create conditions for the development of the cooperative economic sector.
The Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Provincial Cooperative Union to coordinate with departments, branches, and associations to closely monitor and listen to the difficulties that cooperatives are facing. In particular, Quang Nam will continue to review and evaluate mechanisms and policies to make appropriate proposals towards sustainable development for the collective economic sector, helping cooperatives to be ready to adapt to the constant fluctuations of the economy and market.
