The joint exercise on catching drug criminals across the Vietnam - Laos border was held on the afternoon of October 22 in Moc Chau district (Son La province) by the joint forces of Vietnam - Laos under the general command of Colonel Ban Van Chanh, Deputy Commander of the Son La Provincial Border Guard.
This is one of the activities within the framework of the 2nd Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange. Before the exercise, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, presided over the welcoming ceremony for his Lao counterpart, General Chansamone Chanyalath, at landmark 255 (Long Sap border gate area).
Border guards fired flares to start the exercise.
The drill scenario was that a group of people carrying drugs from Laos to Vietnam were discovered, so 2 people fled back to Laos, and 6 others ran towards Vietnam.
According to the scenario, Lao forces successfully captured two fugitives. Meanwhile, Vietnam mobilized border special forces to pursue and block the remaining suspects.
During the arrest, 2 drug criminals escaped the siege.
Two criminals broke into a two-story house, held a man and his daughter hostage, and threatened the authorities; demanding that their demands be met.
Border guards and police then arrived, surrounded the house from many directions and gradually approached.
Special forces entered the house where the hostages were being held.
After forcing the criminals out, the police and police dogs immediately chased and arrested them.
Soldiers control crime during the exercise.
The two Defense Ministers of Vietnam and Laos presented gifts to the forces participating in the exercise.
