(CLO) Soldiers of the Ukrainian Defense Forces are facing serious losses due to being deployed into poorly prepared battlefields.
According to journalist Yuriy Butusov, this situation was occurring in many areas across the front line. Senior commanders were accused of deploying tasks that exceeded the actual capabilities of their units, forcing them to fight in unprotected positions.

Units were allocated large defensive areas without adequate forces or support. They were not deployed in prepared defensive positions, but had to fight in open areas.
Orders arrived late or were poorly coordinated. There was no proper planning of defense or realistic assessment of the army's combat capabilities.
Battalion commanders have publicly criticized the lack of responsibility and strategic vision from the top, leading to the deteriorating situation in key areas such as Pokrovsk.
According to the DeepState monitoring group, Russian forces have advanced to the Shevchenko and Vidrodzhennia areas in Donetsk Oblast, just 6-10 kilometers from Pokrovsk. Fierce fighting is still ongoing, and if no immediate action is taken, Pokrovsk is in danger of falling.
Mykola Koval, spokesman for the 14th Chervona Kalyna Brigade of Ukraine, confirmed that fierce fighting was still taking place near Pokrovsk. General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that Russian forces were concentrating all their efforts to break through the defense line there.
On December 16, representatives of the Ukrainian Defense Forces said they had successfully repelled Russian attacks in the Pishchane area, near Pokrovsk. However, the overall situation remains tense with continuous reinforcements from the Russian side.
Reports from other sources indicate that Ukraine's defense situation is in trouble due to a shortage of weapons and equipment, especially after aid from the West was interrupted for a long time.
