On September 23-24, the Ben Tre Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations in collaboration with Project Vietnam Foundation (PVF) organized a humanitarian medical examination and treatment program; presented gifts and scholarships to the poor and poor students in An Duc and An Ngai Tay communes, Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province.

Attending the program were Vice President of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Ben Tre Province Do Minh Duc; Director of Ba Tri District Medical Center Pham Van Em, Deputy Head of Ba Tri District Department of Education and Training Phan Hoang Dieu; Deputy Head of Ba Tri District Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Mai Van Bon; Representative of PVF organization in Vietnam Ms. Quynh Kieu Dinh and more than 70 doctors, nurses, volunteers and interpreters.

Within the framework of the program, more than 2,000 people were directly examined and screened for diseases and provided health consultations by the medical team of PVF. Through this, a number of diseases were discovered such as: cardiovascular disease, high blood fat, high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, ear, nose and throat diseases and eye diseases.

Doctors prescribed and dispensed free medicines and provided treatment instructions, as well as advised people on how to prevent common diseases, thereby helping people raise awareness of health care for themselves and their families. For serious illnesses, doctors advised and instructed relatives to take them to higher-level hospitals for timely treatment.

In addition to medical examination and treatment activities, PVF also presented 60 gifts to 60 poor households in An Duc and An Ngai Tay communes, each gift worth 1 million VND, including 500,000 VND in cash and necessities such as rice, noodles, cooking oil, fish sauce, and seasoning powder.

The program also supports 50 scholarships for 50 studious students from poor and near-poor households in the two communes of An Duc and An Ngai Tay. Each scholarship is worth 1 million VND. The total cost of the program is over 500 million VND.

The program was successfully carried out with the support of sponsors and local authorities. The program has practical significance, contributing to supporting, helping, and sharing some of the difficulties for the poor and disadvantaged people, effectively implementing the socialization of health care for the people, improving the quality of life and ensuring social security.
Project Vietnam Foundation (PVF) USA plans to sponsor 10-15 disadvantaged children in Quang Tri under 12 years old with congenital heart disease to undergo screening at Quang Tri General Hospital from July 7-17, 2019. Children who need surgery will be transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital for surgery. |
