Quang Ninh youth get free medical check-ups at outpost island

TPO – Many activities of giving gifts, inaugurating a playground and providing medical examination and treatment for young people and people of Vinh Thuc island commune were organized in the winter volunteer campaign in 2024 and spring volunteer campaign in 2025.

On December 14, at the outpost island commune of Vinh Thuc, Mong Cai, Quang Ninh province, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union - Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Union of Quang Ninh province organized the launching program "Winter volunteering in 2024, spring volunteering in 2025".

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen The Minh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union; Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of Quang Ninh province, said that this is an activity in a series of events to welcome the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union, term 2024-2029; competing to achieve achievements to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels, term 2025-2030.

The program has a very practical social significance, aiming to promote the pioneering role, volunteerism, mutual love and affection of cadres, union members, association members and young people of Quang Ninh; join hands to help children and people in especially difficult circumstances in remote, isolated, border and island areas; contribute to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and ensuring social security.

At the program, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee - Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Union organized the installation of a youth project sign for the playground in the island commune. This is a playground project that Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union mobilized resources to donate worth 60 million VND.

Also in the program, the Volunteer Clubs presented 15 bicycles, 15 study corners, and 30 gifts to 30 students who have overcome difficulties to excel in their studies. Dong Bac Corporation presented 30 gifts to 30 families with preferential policies and families in difficult circumstances. The total value of the gifts was over 170 million VND.

In addition, the Standing Committee of Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union presented 30 maps of "Pride of a strip of mountains and rivers" to the youth and children of Vinh Thuc island commune and presented the national flag to the people of the island commune.

This is a meaningful and warm activity for the youth and people in Vinh Thuc island commune; thereby contributing to successfully implementing the core and pioneering role of the Youth Union members and youth of Quang Ninh, firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the country.

At the end of the launching ceremony, Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union coordinated with young doctors at the Provincial General Hospital to organize health check-ups and provide free medicine for children and people living in Vinh Thuc island commune.

Vinh Thuc Island is a small island located in the South of Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh, about 20km from the city center. Vinh Thuc Island covers an area of ​​about 5,000 hectares, including two communes Vinh Thuc and Vinh Trung. The island has an important strategic position in terms of sea and island sovereignty as well as security and national defense. On the island, since 1962, a lighthouse has been placed on the top of Dau Tan Mountain in the North of the island, which is considered by the local people as the "divine eye" of the Northeast sea and islands.
