PTSC G&S is a member unit of Vietnam Oil and Gas Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), currently one of the leading companies in the field of providing underground construction survey and repair services in the region. Recently in October 2023, the Company successfully completed the UWILD survey project and replaced the main mooring chain system of the Mid-Water Arch cluster for the FSO Orkid vessel of the Malaysian customer Vietnam Offshore Terminal (L) Limited (MVOT) at block PM3-CAA, the Vietnam-Malaysia overlap area.
In this project, in addition to surveying the condition of the hull, hull and anchor chain system as in regular UWILD projects, PTSC G&S was also entrusted by MVOT customer to replace the main anchor chain of the MWA cluster of the FSO Orkid. This is a difficult job that requires high technical skills and absolute precision. In addition, harsh weather conditions, urgent implementation progress and strict safety regulations of the host country also posed many challenges for the engineering team of PTSC G&S. However, based on extensive experience and familiarity with the PM3-CAA mine area along with superior technical capacity, PTSC G&S implemented the project safely, effectively and fully met the strict requirements of the customer without affecting the operation of the FSO Orkid. The UWILD survey project and replacement of the main mooring chain system of the Mid-Water Arch cluster for the FSO Orkid vessel is considered one of the highlights in 2023 as well as a milestone marking 10 years of continuous service provision by PTSC G&S to traditional MVOT customers.
Modern technology, professional team
To meet the strict technical requirements of the project, PTSC G&S had to use some special equipment such as DP2 vessel with 03 reference systems (PRS), ROV Work-Class survey robot with 150HP capacity and Air & Mix-Gas diving equipment system. In particular, finding a vessel that fully meets these high requirements at that time was extremely difficult when no domestic vessel could fully meet the above conditions. This put PTSC G&S in front of the difficult problem of the risk of lacking the necessary equipment to implement the project.
Faced with this situation, the engineering team involved in the project, with the support of the Company's Board of Directors, decided to find a creative solution. Instead of having to find a suitable ship that met the technical requirements, PTSC G&S coordinated with the ship owner PTSC Marine to conduct the conversion and installation of a third PRS system on the PTSC Thang Long ship to fully meet the requirements of 03 PRS reference systems for the ship.
The success in the installation and operation of the third PRS system on the PTSC Thang Long vessel is not only an important step forward in the project implementation capacity but also affirms the technical level and creative flexibility of PTSC. At the same time, it also demonstrates MVOT's absolute trust in PTSC G&S when the customer has approved and created favorable conditions for the Company to complete the above upgrade work.
During the project implementation, thanks to the timely provision of complete information and technical documents from the MVOT customer, PTSC G&S has shortened the preparation time and been more proactive in providing effective solutions to deal with any changes and difficulties arising at the construction site. In addition, the enthusiastic support for logistics from customs procedures, procedures for applying for work permits at the mine to supplementing food, clean water, etc. from the office team and MVOT representatives outside the construction site has also contributed significantly to ensuring the project is completed on schedule and safely. Therefore, the success of the project is not only the result of PTSC G&S's efforts, but also comes from the trust, close support and timely direction of the Board of Directors, office team and representatives outside the construction site of the MVOT customer.

Based on the success of the MVOT project, PTSC G&S has opened up many new service opportunities in the Malaysian market, especially the UWILD survey project of the FSO PM3 vessel for the Hibiscus field owner which was carried out immediately afterwards. With these achievements, PTSC G&S has once again affirmed its position as one of the leading survey and underground construction service providers in the region.
