Phu Yen Newspaper reporters went to the field and worked with management agencies to clarify related issues.
According to readers' feedback, recently, the Tho Vuc Cemetery Management Board has arbitrarily cut down trees to create more plots of land for some people in need in areas E1 and E6. In area E4, there has been a situation of digging up the slope, creating 8 more graves to grant and make illegal profits. The feedback also stated that the drainage ditches in the cemetery grounds were filled with garbage, the internal roads were removed to create burial grounds; causing difficulties for families and relatives when visiting and paying respect to graves and disrupting the overall planning of the cemetery...
A field inspection at Tho Vuc cemetery showed that some of the people's reflections were correct. However, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, an employee in charge of managing Tho Vuc cemetery (Tuy Hoa City Public Service Center), in area B1, some trees were half dead and had to be trimmed to avoid affecting the graves in the neighboring areas. The road to the cemetery is also a residential road, some people transport acacia and eucalyptus wood from the fields through this road. This may be the cause of the misunderstanding that the cemetery management board cut down trees in the cemetery area. Regarding the internal road being removed, there is no such thing, at the border of area E6 there are 2 graves located close to the concrete road. Regarding the buried drainage system, the cemetery management board is handling and dredging the stormwater drainage ditches, creating a clear flow before the upcoming storm season.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh, Vice Chairman of Tuy Hoa City People's Committee, after receiving a petition from the people about the management and exploitation of Tho Vuc cemetery, the City People's Committee directed the Urban Management Department to coordinate with the Inspectorate, the Center for Public Service Supply, and the People's Committee of Hoa Kien Commune to conduct an on-site inspection. Regarding the construction of taluy roofs by the people themselves to prevent landslides in the grave area located on steep slopes that have existed for many years, the City People's Committee will assign the advisory agency to guide the implementation procedures. The City Construction Investment Project Management Board is constructing a drainage ditch at the end point adjacent to the Phu Luong village gate to ensure drainage and avoid affecting the surrounding residential area.
According to Mr. Thanh, previously, Tho Vuc cemetery was managed and exploited by the Housing and Urban Works Development Company (now Phu Yen Urban Environment Joint Stock Company). By 2019, the Center for Public Service Provision was established and taken over, so there was an additional registration box for the deceased's spouse. When Tho Vuc cemetery had not yet invested in expanding the 5-hectare cemetery area and did not have a crematorium, there was a shortage of grave boxes. The cemetery management board proactively reviewed vacant land and granted them to people when a relative passed away. The management unit only collected a land fee of VND 100,000/grave box, and did not collect any other fees. After the crematorium was put into operation and the 5-hectare area was deployed, it solved most of the people's needs; cutting down trees and clearing land to solve people's burial needs no longer exists.
“The City People’s Committee continues to direct the review, inspection and handling of any violations to rectify management and exploitation activities at Tho Vuc cemetery; ensuring security and order as well as the needs of the people,” said Mr. Thanh.
