Specifically, parent N. - whose child is in 8th grade at Phu Lam Secondary School - said: "My child came home and told me that the homeroom teacher asked him to sign for 100,000 VND for being an excellent student, but the teacher did not give him the money. When the children asked, the teacher said that the money was just a formality, and that the money would be given to students who achieved excellent results at the district and provincial levels.

On May 27, the school held a ceremony to summarize and award the children. My child only received a certificate of merit for the title of excellent student and 15 notebooks. The 100,000 VND that was signed for was not received. My child is now on summer vacation."

Similarly, a parent whose child is in grade 9 said that her child achieved the title of excellent student and also signed to receive 100,000 VND, but did not receive a bonus.

At the year-end meeting, this student received a certificate of merit for being an excellent student and 50,000 VND (instead of 15 notebooks), but the 100,000 VND was not awarded at the year-end meeting.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of May 29, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - principal of Phu Lam Secondary School - said that students who achieve enough levels of the excellent student award are of course eligible to receive it.

According to information from the school, in grade 9 alone, in the 2023-2024 school year, 59 students achieved the title of excellent students and 131 students achieved the title of advanced students.

In addition, grade 9 has 1 student who achieved the title of National Team Leader, 3 students won prizes in the provincial student competition, 6 students won prizes in the district student competition, 38 students won prizes at the school level, 1 student won the provincial sports prize, 5 students won the district sports prize.
