(CLO) Russian air defense forces have intercepted a series of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in various areas, especially concentrated in the Kursk region - where the Ukrainian army carried out a major attack in August.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense forces shot down 15 UAVs in the Kursk region, which borders Ukraine. In addition, one UAV was shot down in the Bryansk region, which also borders Ukraine, and another in the Lipetsk region. Another UAV was shot down in the Oryol region, in central Russia.

In the Belgorod region, a region frequently targeted by Ukrainian attacks, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said a series of attacks shattered windows in an apartment building and damaged several other facilities. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The Kursk and Belgorod regions have seen frequent drone attacks or artillery shelling from Ukraine since the conflict between the two countries escalated. Russia’s claim of intercepting a large number of UAVs reflects the ever-increasing level of tension in the region.
In that context, the attacks not only cause damage to infrastructure but also make people in border areas live in anxiety, as explosions and airstrike warnings occur more frequently.
Both Russia and Ukraine have continued to increase military operations against each other's strategic targets and key infrastructure, making the prospect of peace still remote.
