At the scene, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong quickly reported to the Deputy Prime Minister about the damage caused by floods on the night of September 12 and early morning of September 13 in the province.
Accordingly, the floods have killed 4 people, left 5 missing, and injured 5 people. The cases in Lien Minh commune (Sa Pa town) were determined to be caused by heavy rain, people went to check the cold water fish farming area (salmon, sturgeon), at the same time heavy rain caused landslides, flash floods came quickly so they could not escape, were buried, swept away by the flood.
In Suoi Chai village, Phin Ngan commune (Bat Xat district), a victim was swept away by floodwaters while going to see his family's mini generator installed in the Sung Vui stream area (Suoi Chai).
In Van Ban district, 1 person died due to a collapsed house. In addition, 12 houses were damaged by floods; many infrastructures such as roads, cultural houses, schools and many agricultural production areas were damaged...
The initial damage caused by this flood in Lao Cai is estimated at over 250 billion VND. Immediately after receiving the information, the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee directed districts, towns and cities to urgently deploy measures to overcome the damage and organize search and rescue for missing victims.
At the site inspection of the flash flood area, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha directed Lao Cai province to urgently review vulnerable areas such as river systems, streams, and areas at risk of flash floods, landslides; develop plans to evacuate people from areas at risk of being affected by dangerous natural disasters; continue to warn of natural disaster risks to proactively develop response plans.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee and affected localities to quickly mobilize maximum forces to search for missing people. At the same time, it is necessary to organize visits, support and encourage families of victims and households affected by floods; proactively and urgently overcome the consequences of natural disasters...
