Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha's working trip took place in the context of Vietnam-France relations and Vietnam-Netherlands relations continuing to develop positively and strongly in many fields.
For France, in 2023, the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of strategic partnership. The two sides regularly maintain contacts, exchange delegations and cooperation mechanisms, share many common views on global issues, and coordinate and support each other at international organizations and forums.
The Vietnamese community in France, consisting of about 300,000 people, is the largest Vietnamese community in Europe, and has made many important contributions to deepening and substantive relations between the two countries.
For the Netherlands, 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The two countries established a Strategic Partnership on Climate Change Response and Water Management in 2010, a Strategic Partnership on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security in 2014, and a Comprehensive Partnership in 2019.
The two sides regularly maintain delegation exchanges at all levels and bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and coordinate and support each other at international forums and organizations. The Netherlands is Vietnam's second largest trading partner in Europe and the EU's largest investor in Vietnam.
The New Global Financial Compact Summit is an initiative proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron at the 2022 G20 Summit, with the aim of promoting reform of the international financial system, addressing the climate, biodiversity and development crises through increased finance and preferential capital support for developing countries in the South.
This year's summit takes place in the context of the world's continuing complicated political and economic situation, with developing countries facing the risk of not completing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on time due to a lack of financial resources.
This year's conference is expected to have the participation of about 300 delegations representing countries, socio-political organizations and businesses, including about 100 leaders of countries and international organizations.
