It must be said that 2023 is the year of receiving a "storm" of awards for Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Long (born in 1988), lecturer at the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

In just a short time, he received the award of Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City, Outstanding Young Cadre of Ho Chi Minh City National University, and the 7th National Outstanding Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings.
Not stopping there, 2023 is an extremely special year when the male lecturer is recognized as meeting the Associate Professor standards by the State Council of Professors.
Previously, in 2022, Dr. Le Thanh Long received the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award.
Up to now, Dr. Long has had 35 scientific articles published in scientific journals, participated in prestigious international scientific conferences; 16 scientific articles published in domestic scientific journals, chaired a national-level project (Nafostes) and chaired a project at the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, a project at the National University; 2 grassroots-level projects have been accepted and met requirements...
In 2022-2023, Dr. Le Thanh Long had 5 grassroots initiatives recognized; successfully accepted a scientific research project at the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City with the product Negative Pressure Room. This product has practical significance in joining hands to prevent and fight epidemics, protect health and raise public awareness.
Born and raised in Pleiku, Gia Lai province, after graduating from Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted in Mathematics, Long was admitted to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. In 2011, after completing his undergraduate program, he spent 5 years completing his PhD program in mechanical engineering at National Taiwan University (NCU, Taiwan, China).

He won first prize in the field of mechanics, and was an outstanding Vietnamese scientific researcher in Taiwan in 2016. With his achievements, academic and research abilities while doing research in Taiwan, Mr. Long shared that there was a period when he hesitated and considered whether to stay or return to Vietnam.
In the end, he chose to return to his home country to work at the school he attended as a student. Besides his desire to contribute to the development of the country, the important thing for him was to live close to his family and relatives.
The grand prize is "first time dad"
Despite receiving a series of awards in a short time, Associate Professor Dr. Le Thanh Long expressed that his biggest award in 2023 was... his wife giving birth, bringing him to the sacred position of "first-time fatherhood" in his life.

As fate would have it, the day his wife gave birth was also the day he was officially recognized as an Associate Professor. To him, this was like a gift from his father welcoming his child into the world.
Therefore, at the appointment ceremony of Associate Professor, he and his wife carried their two-month-old baby to receive the appointment with his father to mark the moment of their child, themselves, and their family.
His wife is also a teaching colleague at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. They met and fell in love while doing research in Taiwan.
As a husband, Dr. Le Thanh Long said that since getting married, his outlook on life has changed a lot. Until having children, he admitted that being a father was the hardest job, more difficult than doing research, teaching, and career guidance.
He had to learn from the beginning how to breastfeed, change diapers, and bathe his baby. He realized that there was a huge gap between learning and practicing childcare. When his baby was born, he could only read books and learn the theory, but could not do it right away.
Being a husband and father is not a barrier, but it gives him more motivation and reminds him to try harder in raising children, taking care of the family, and being more responsible for work and the community.

At the end of the year and the beginning of the year, besides spending time with his family, he and his research team are working hard on a new project on robots applied in the fields of medicine and smart cities.
He revealed that modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) were applied by the research team to robots to solve problems in the medical field, such as procedures for receiving patients. Robots can move and interact with humans depending on their needs and purposes, completely replacing humans in the lobby and reception areas.
The research team plans to try to complete it in 2024 to provide it to units such as hospitals and companies.
For Associate Professor Dr. Le Thanh Long, doing research is like... being a father, theory must go hand in hand with practice. Research projects must solve urgent social problems and have high practical applicability.
