On April 15, the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a document conveying the direction of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc regarding the American International School.
Accordingly, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc requested the Department of Education and Training and the interdisciplinary working group to strengthen monitoring, supervision, and direction of the American International Primary, Middle, and High School to ensure learning conditions, main content of the curriculum, teaching quality of the school, and learning quality of students.
Any arising issues should be promptly reported to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration and direction.
Previously, the Department of Education and Training sent a report to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the handling of issues related to this school from April 8 to April 12.
Financially, by 2:00 p.m. on April 12, parents had contributed 30.4 billion VND to the account to receive financial support to maintain the school's educational activities until the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
Last week, representatives of the Department of Education and Training participated in reviewing and supervising the payment of provisional salaries, housing expenses for foreign teachers and expenses for teaching activities. The current balance is 6.7 billion VND.
There are currently 1,087 students at the school (down 33 students). On April 12, at the primary level, 42/49 foreign teachers, 12/14 Vietnamese teachers, and 395/428 primary school students returned to school.
At the secondary level, there are 55/74 foreign teachers, 10/13 Vietnamese teachers, 547/659 students returning to school and 95/103 staff going to work.
According to the principal's report, as of April 12, the school received 10 resignation letters from foreign teachers, which will affect the school's teaching plan in the coming time.
The number of students absent on April 12 was the highest in the past week, with 33 students absent from primary school and 112 students absent from secondary school.
Research for the end of the school year on April 26
The Department of Education and Training has assigned the secondary education department to research proposals for grades to end the school year on April 26. Grade 12 students will return to school until May 17 to complete the International Baccalaureate exam.
The Department also requested the American International Education Joint Stock Company and the American International Primary, Secondary and High School to develop an online teaching plan, when the contributed funds are not enough to organize direct educational activities until the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
