(CLO) The main scene of the movie "Red Rain" (produced by People's Army Cinema) is the ancient citadel film set, recreated according to the Quang Tri ancient citadel relic. The scene was built right next to the Thach Han River.
The film "Red Rain" recreates the 81-day and night battle to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972, and was filmed on a 50-hectare set in Quang Tri. This is a major film project of the People's Army Cinema. The unit surveyed film locations in more than 10 provinces and cities to accurately recreate the historical context.
The film directed by Dang Thai Huyen has a duration of 120 minutes. The most special feature of the film is the ancient citadel set, recreated according to the ancient citadel of Quang Tri. The scene was built right next to the Thach Han River.
The film crew and the team of artists studied the actual structure of Quang Tri ancient citadel, from which they designed the scene to ensure it was close to the original. Details such as Dinh Cong Trang citadel gate, the layers of the ramparts, the color of the walls with the moss layers of time were carefully analyzed.
The props of the characters are collected or restored down to the smallest detail. Some are replicated at a 1:1 scale for filming. Recreating the historical setting and heroic atmosphere of the era in a film of more than 100 minutes requires high standards.
Sharing with the press, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thu Dung - Director of People's Army Cinema said that the film crew invited many experts, historical researchers and veterans who fought in the Citadel to give comments on the setting.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thu Dung, choosing the setting right on the Thach Han River made the film crew ponder before making the decision. The film set right next to the historic river is meaningful to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs. At the same time, it helps the crew take advantage of the river to recreate wartime images such as the scene of soldiers crossing the river, the scene of transferring the wounded in bombs and bullets... This helps increase the authenticity and emotion when filming, while reducing the cost of designing the scene.
The screenplay for the feature film Red Rain was written by writer Chu Lai. This is the largest project of the People's Army Cinema in the past 10 years, expected to be completed in 2025.
"Red Rain" reflects the struggle of the people and officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army during 81 days and nights to protect the ancient citadel of Quang Tri. The film also talks about the fierce battle of wits at the negotiating table at the Paris Conference.
