The 13th meeting of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the Transport sector

Comrade Nguyen Manh Tuan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference at the Tuyen Quang province bridge. Opening the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Steering Committee, emphasized that one of the goals set by the 13th Congress is to have 3,000 km of expressways nationwide by 2025 and 5,000 km of expressways nationwide by 2030. The 13th Congress also identified 3 strategic breakthroughs, including a breakthrough in transport infrastructure.

Implementing the Party's resolutions, the Government decided to establish a Steering Committee, identifying a list of projects that the Steering Committee monitors and directs, including 40 major projects/92 component projects in 3 areas: Road, railway and aviation, passing through 48 provinces and centrally-run cities.

At the 12th meeting, the Prime Minister assigned 57 tasks to ministries, branches and localities, focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles, speeding up the progress of site clearance and providing construction materials, especially for key transport projects in the Southern region; to date, the units have completed 20 tasks on time, are actively implementing 30 tasks of regular direction and management, 1 task has not yet reached the deadline, 6 tasks have not yet been completed on time...

At the meeting, leaders of ministries, branches and localities proposed groups of tasks and solutions to be handled and resolved in the coming time.

In Tuyen Quang, the province is currently implementing the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway Project (phase 1), the section passing through Tuyen Quang province. This is an important national project, a key project of the transport sector.

Regarding construction implementation, the project has a total of 7 construction packages. Units have simultaneously implemented construction of 6/6 construction packages for roads and bridges on the route, while the construction package for the lighting system has not been implemented.

To date, 74 construction teams have been deployed, some construction units work overtime at night when the weather is favorable; the total number of machines and equipment on the route is nearly 500 pieces of equipment. The total value of implementation by the end of July reached about 11.15% of the contract value.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Manh Tuan emphasized that the province is currently actively directing contractors to vigorously implement the construction of the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway. However, due to heavy rain, the construction progress of the road construction project as well as resettlement areas has been affected. In addition, during the implementation of the project, an area of ​​rice fields of about 20 hectares had to be recovered, which affected the progress.

In the coming time, the province will focus on removing obstacles in site clearance and urging contractors to take advantage of favorable weather to work in "3 shifts, 4 shifts" to speed up the project's progress.

Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended and acknowledged the achievements of ministries, sectors and localities in implementing important national and key projects in the transport sector in recent times. Localities mobilized the entire political system to accelerate the progress and complete the site clearance of key national projects.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in the spirit of “let’s do it, not talk back”, “don’t say no, don’t say difficult; don’t say yes but don’t do it”, all for the benefit of the nation, the people, and the people, he requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to coordinate and focus on promoting projects to ensure project progress and quality. From now until the end of the year, we must accelerate, make a breakthrough, and strive to complete the proposed 3,000km of expressway by 2025…
