The forum was held on November 29 in Thai Binh province as part of the 2024 National Rural Youth Festival organized by the Central Youth Union.

It is not necessary to apply the latest and most expensive technology because technology is everywhere. What is important is that young people spend time and apply it appropriately.

Mr. NGUYEN QUOC CUONG (Birdnest KYC Joint Stock Company)

Green economic development: Good technology but also needs good awareness

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong – Head of Business Department of Birdnest KYC Joint Stock Company – said that the trend of Netzero (carbon-balanced production) and Zero Carbon (zero carbon emissions) in agriculture is inevitable. Therefore, economic models of young people cannot be outside this green economic trend.

However, to build a sustainable and high-tech youth economic model, each young person must first determine to change their mindset to be able to catch up with this trend. According to Mr. Cuong, it is necessary to look directly at the reality that production without regard to environmental protection, ecological protection or unsustainable development such as the excessive use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers must stop.

Mr. Cuong said that balancing profit and environmental protection is also a problem that needs to be fundamentally solved. In particular, it is necessary to apply modern technology to balance profit and environmental protection.

“We should sit back and observe how the previous generation, the experienced people, have applied the most suitable models,” said Mr. Cuong.

Meanwhile, Mr. Vo Trung Au - Deputy General Director of National Sustainable Solutions Joint Stock Company - said that the application of technology must be specific, suitable to actual conditions, capabilities and specific production and business circumstances.

Agreeing, Ms. Mai Thi Tuoi - Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Union of Thai Binh province - admitted that in order to have green and sustainable agriculture, it is necessary to have cooperation.

Ms. Tuoi said the most important thing is the agricultural value chain in that model from input suppliers, direct producers, breeders, processing facilities and finally consumers. Each stage in that chain needs to change awareness to have a green and sustainable agricultural chain.

“Right from the direct production stage, when choosing which technology to apply, you need to make sure it is suitable for the standards of the market you are targeting to ensure the output of the product,” Ms. Tuoi shared.

Inspiring rural youth

At the forum, the topic "Rural youth and the movement of applying science and technology to promote, receive, transfer and apply in production, business and innovation" was a hotly discussed topic.

Labor Hero Tran Manh Bao - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Thaibinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company - advised young people to invest in new technology to boost production.

Mr. Bao hopes that young people “live with ideals, aspirations and passions”. Explaining, Mr. Bao said that young people today are all global citizens, so they cannot help but learn and explore technology. However, technology is just a tool, so we must have our own strategies in the business process.

“Each of you must determine your own ideals in life, and be clear with each other that we were born not just to survive but to contribute. When we inherit the values that we have, we must be grateful to those who have created and contributed to the achievements that we are inheriting,” the labor hero advised the young people.

Also sharing at yesterday's forum was 12th grade student Nguyen Van Ngoc Duc, who had just completed his competition at the 2024 Rural Youth Startup Project competition.

Sharing about his dedication to creativity and passion for technology, Duc honestly said: “Because that is the passion of youth and I personally think that creativity should never stop but always move forward. When creating, I gain more knowledge and opportunities to improve myself.”

Duc admits that he is just a very small part among millions of Vietnamese youth. Perhaps he has the honor to be present at this forum to share his personal thoughts, so he hopes to contribute a little bit with everyone to "fan the flames of creative passion of young people".

“Complete your studies in the best way possible, choose a university that suits your abilities, passion and dream of becoming a mechanical and technological researcher. I hope that every young person will always be bold in speaking up, sharing their ambitions and aspirations and always moving forward,” Duc said about his future orientation.

Mr. Dao Duy Binh - production director, co-founder of Limit Foods brand (Creative Food Technology Joint Stock Company), also representative of the board of directors of Luong Dinh Cua Network - believes that youth is the most energetic time in life, so it is necessary to have and determine your passion for research.

“Turn youthful enthusiasm into positive energy, choose the difficult things, the things that enhance value to do and turn that into a youth trend,” Mr. Binh advised.
