The Vanh Khuyen persimmon tree appeared in Na Mo village, Tan My commune, Van Lang district many years ago. Since 1958, this tree has been expanded to the entire Tan My commune and from 1990 to present, persimmon trees have been planted in 17 communes and towns in Van Lang district, mainly concentrated in the communes: Tan My, Hoang Viet, Thanh Long, Hoang Van Thu, Hong Thai, Bac Hung...

Currently, the area of Vanh Khuyen rose cultivation in Van Lang district is about 1,390 hectares, of which 900 hectares have been harvested; the area of growing according to VietGAP and organic standards is 320 hectares. In recent years, the average annual area of growing roses has increased by over 100 hectares.

To increase the value of the Vanh Khuyen persimmon tree, in recent years, people in the district have focused on linking from production to processing and consumption of products, typically developing cooperatives operating in the field of production and trading of Vanh Khuyen persimmons.

Mr. Hoang Van Hau, Director of Na Mo Persimmon Production and Trading Cooperative, Tan My Commune, Van Lang District, shared: Persimmon trees have been planted by people in Na Mo village for many years. However, the planting is still spontaneous, prices are unstable... By 2018, the Cooperative was established with 7 members. When joining the Cooperative, member households supported each other in terms of techniques, experience and capital to develop persimmon trees. At the same time, the Cooperative acted as the focal point to organize the purchase of all Persimmon products from Cooperative members as well as local people. Currently, the Cooperative has 9 hectares of Persimmons with an average annual output of about 80 tons of fruit. With the selling price ranging from 15,000-20,000 VND/kg, the Cooperative earns 1.2-1.6 billion VND per year, an increase of 40% compared to 2018.

Similar to the Na Mo Persimmon Production and Trading Cooperative, since its inception, the Toan Thuong Agricultural Products Cooperative in Na Sam Town, Van Lang District has promoted its role as a link in the production and consumption of products for persimmon growers in the district. Ms. Vuong Thi Thuong, Director of the Cooperative, said: The Cooperative was established in 2023 with 7 members, and the area of Persimmons is about 10 hectares. Since its inception, the Cooperative has coordinated with specialized agencies to organize training courses, instructing on organic planting and care techniques for Persimmons, VietGAP for Cooperative members as well as persimmon growers associated with Cooperatives (currently, the Cooperative is associated with Cooperatives and over 100 households growing Persimmons in the district). In addition, to increase the value of the Vanh Khuyen persimmon tree, the Cooperative also focuses on developing the wind-dried persimmon model... In 2023, the Cooperative sold over 500 tons of Vanh Khuyen persimmons to people in the district, the Cooperative's profit reached about 1.6 billion VND. Since the beginning of the 2024 Vanh Khuyen persimmon crop, the Cooperative has sold about 5 tons of persimmons to people.

Along with the above 2 cooperatives, in recent years, many other rose growers in Van Lang district have joined together to develop into cooperatives and groups of households producing and trading in the Vanh Khuyen rose. Up to now, there are 5 cooperatives operating in the production and trading of the Vanh Khuyen rose in the district. In addition, some traders have joined with people in the consumption of the Vanh Khuyen rose products.

In addition to the initiative of the people, in recent years, the People's Committee of Van Lang district has directed specialized agencies to synchronously deploy solutions to support people and cooperatives to improve the effectiveness of linkage in the production and business of Vanh Khuyen persimmons.

Ms. Lo Thi Kim Oanh, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Van Lang district, said: In recent years, in addition to promoting propaganda and mobilizing the development of cooperatives producing and trading Vanh Khuyen persimmons, the specialized department has coordinated with relevant agencies to support cooperatives in building Vanh Khuyen persimmon production areas according to VietGAP and organic standards. Along with that, the authorities support cooperatives in participating in trade promotion activities, product promotion; support cooperatives in building OCOP products, participating in production development projects according to the chain; support young intellectuals to work at cooperatives... In the past 3 years alone, specialized agencies have supported Vanh Khuyen persimmon production and trading cooperatives in the district with about 3 billion VND.

Thanks to the initiative of the people and the attention and support of the State, the association in the production and trading of Vanh Khuyen persimmons in Van Lang district has achieved positive results. The area of persimmons grown according to quality standards has been expanded, and persimmon growers are assured of the output of their products. In recent years, the output of Vanh Khuyen persimmons in the district has reached about 8,000 tons/year with a revenue of about 115 billion VND, an increase of 45 billion VND compared to 2020.

Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Van Lang District People's Committee said: From the achieved results, in the coming time, Van Lang District People's Committee will continue to direct specialized agencies to deploy solutions to support the development of the Vanh Khuyen persimmon tree, focusing on building concentrated persimmon production areas in the direction of goods, promoting linkage from production to product consumption. Thereby, continuing to contribute to further improving the economic efficiency of the Vanh Khuyen persimmon tree for people in the district.
