Promoting the value of Hue traditional music in cultural and tourism development

(Fatherland) - That was the theme of the National Scientific Conference recently organized by the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Thua Thien Hue province in coordination with the Department of Tourism, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hue Monuments Conservation Center, Hue Academy of Music and related units on the afternoon of December 18, in Hue City.

The workshop "Promoting the value of Hue traditional music in cultural and tourism development" was organized in an interdisciplinary manner to have a systematic overview, aiming to orientate the preservation, inheritance and promotion of the values ​​of Hue traditional art and culture in general and Hue traditional music in particular. Attending the workshop were many leading experts in the fields of music, culture and tourism inside and outside the province.

According to the Organizing Committee of the conference, Hue traditional music shows the sophistication and diversity of royal culture and has a great influence on Vietnamese music. From royal to folk, all have unique and distinctive features. Hue traditional music also plays a special role in affirming and expressing the levels of national identity, including the reception, research, development and display of the Hue capital to create a special art form with specific and academic characteristics.

A typical product of Hue traditional music is Hue Royal Court Music, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This has contributed to affirming the position and value of Hue traditional music art, thereby promoting the image of the locality.

Dr. Ho Dac Thai Hoang, Chairman of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Thua Thien Hue province, said that in the context of international integration, culture and tourism are becoming an important bridge between countries and territories, acting as a cultural ambassador connecting people to people to enjoy the spirit of humanity, kindness and friendship. Promoting the value of Hue traditional music not only helps raise public awareness of the importance of heritage but also opens up new directions in socio-economic development.

With a strategic vision, over the past time, Thua Thien Hue province has been implementing many policies to preserve and promote traditional music, such as encouraging the inclusion of Ca Hue in schools, organizing art programs, and connecting music with tourism products, Festival programs and Craft Village Festivals held alternately every year. These efforts have contributed to bringing Hue traditional music closer to the public, both at home and abroad.

The workshop held this time is an opportunity for scholars, experts, and scientists to advise Thua Thien Hue province in building appropriate and effective policies for Hue Traditional Music to promote its value in order to serve the local socio-economic development, cultural tourism, and towards sustainable development.

Through the workshop, the contributions of Hue Traditional Music to the development of culture and tourism in the province were once again affirmed. Thereby, it will be the basis for further development into a tourism product suitable for the new situation in the coming time.
