Việt NamViệt Nam23/04/2024

On the morning of April 22, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the launching ceremony of the 2024 Press Award for Propaganda on Energy Saving and Efficiency.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said: In 2023, we witnessed the localized reduction in electricity supply causing many difficulties for the economy as well as people's lives. It is forecasted that in 2024, we will also have to suffer the severe impacts of climate change, directly affecting electricity supply.

According to the report of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and the Electricity Regulatory Authority (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the supply and operation of the power system in 2024 will basically meet enough electricity for socio-economic development and people's needs. However, in the coming time, ensuring electricity capacity will still face many difficulties, especially in the northern region during the peak hot months.

Therefore, based on the close instructions of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has determined to focus on promoting energy saving, considering the economical and efficient use of energy as an important solution to contribute to ensuring sufficient electricity for economic development and social life in the short and long term.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan spoke at the launching ceremony.

Also according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, following the success of the Award over many years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade expects the 2024 Award to continue to receive the attention and participation of journalists, reporters, media officers of units, collaborators, and informants nationwide.

Through their writings, journalists and collaborators will help propagate and popularize the Party and State's policies and guidelines on economical and efficient energy use; reflect on difficulties and challenges in implementing economical and efficient energy use; and discover advanced models and initiatives in energy saving.

Announcing the award rules, Chief of Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association Phan Toan Thang said that the journalistic works participating in the award need to accurately, promptly and effectively reflect a number of contents, including propaganda, organization of implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on economical and efficient use of energy; commending departments, organizations, units and establishments that use energy economically and efficiently through synchronous implementation of State management tasks and solutions, technical support, scientific and technological research and product development, market transformation, training and human resource development, thereby reducing electricity loss to the lowest level.

Entries should focus on raising public awareness of energy saving and efficiency; reducing energy intensity in industries and economic sectors; encouraging energy saving to become a regular activity for key energy-using establishments and key economic sectors that consume a lot of energy, towards the goal of green growth and sustainable development.

In addition, the articles also need to discover advanced examples, experiences, and effective methods in localities, establishments, units, projects, individuals, and families in implementing energy saving and efficiency; disseminate knowledge and technology in the field of energy saving and efficiency; and reflect the difficulties and challenges of energy saving and efficiency.
