Vietnam Electricity (EVN) said that after storm No. 3, EVN's hydropower plants in the northern region still maintained normal operations. Currently, the water flow to hydropower reservoirs has increased rapidly due to the impact of storms and rains, so the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention of provinces and cities have requested a number of hydropower reservoirs to open floodgates for regulation.

Specifically, Tuyen Quang Hydroelectric Plant opened 4 floodgates, Lai Chau opened 1 gate, Ban Chat opened 4 gates, Huoi Quang opened 4 gates, Hoa Binh opened 2 gates, Thac Ba opened 2 gates, Trung Son opened 6 gates, and Ban Ve opened 6 floodgates.

Regarding the operation of reservoirs, EVN said that the current water flow to Lai Chau hydropower reservoir is 1,768 m3/s, the total water discharge is 1,563 m3/s. Ban Chat hydropower, the water flow to the lake is 1,388 m3/s, the total water discharge is 1,413.9 m3/s. Huoi Quang hydropower, the water flow to the lake is 1,908.2 m3/s, the total water discharge is 1,902.9 m3/s. Son La hydropower, the water flow to the lake is 4,965 m3/s, the total water discharge is 1,432 m3/s. Hoa Binh hydropower, the water flow to the lake is 4,924 m3/s, and is discharging 5,462 m3/s. Thac Ba, the water flow to the lake is 2,563 m3/s, and is discharging 2,282.8 m3/s.
Notably, Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant currently has the largest water flow in the country with 6,952 m3/s, and is discharging 3,098.9 m3/s.
In the North Central region, Trung Son hydropower plant is operating to discharge flood water with a flow rate of 1,668 m3/s, equivalent to the amount of water flowing into the lake, while Ban Ve hydropower plant is discharging flood water with a flow rate of 512 m3/s, the flow into the lake is 469 m3/s.
Regarding the recovery of the consequences of storm No. 3, according to EVN, up to now, the 500kV grid has restored 7/9 damaged lines. The 220kV grid has restored 27/40 damaged lines. The 110kV grid has restored 77/102 damaged lines.

Power restored to 4.2 million customers in the North
According to preliminary information from the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC), of the more than 5.7 million customers who lost power due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi, by this morning, September 9, power supply had been restored to 4.2 million customers, corresponding to a power restoration rate of 73.7% for affected customers.
In addition to about 4,000 staff mobilized to overcome the consequences and restore power after the storm, on September 8, EVNNPC also mobilized a total of 38 shock teams with a total of 413 staff and technical workers from 13 other units to support the repair of the power grid that was severely affected by storm No. 3 in Quang Ninh and Hai Phong provinces.
In Hanoi, according to information from the Hanoi Electricity Corporation, about 290,000 customers were affected by Typhoon Yagi, most of them in suburban districts. To date, nearly 100% of customers whose power supply was interrupted due to Typhoon Yagi have had their power restored.
