With the home advantage of Hang Day Stadium in round 5 of Night Wolf V-League 2023, Hanoi Police Club took the initiative to attack right after the opening whistle. However, Hai Phong was the team that had the first dangerous opportunities.

In the 15th minute, Mpande rushed in to shoot but could not beat Patrick Le Giang - the Vietnamese-American goalkeeper appearing in goal for the first time in the V-League.
In the 20th minute, Hai Phong had another chance to open the score. Trieu Viet Hung approached but Patrick Le Giang played focused and reflexively saved the goal.

The best chance for Hanoi Police belonged to Van Do. In the 29th minute, the U23 Vietnam player escaped to receive a pass from his teammate, but his shot could not get past goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Trieu.

The first half ended in a 0-0 draw. In the second half, the game became more balanced when Hai Phong no longer played defensively.
In the 62nd minute, the score was opened for the home team, Cong An Ha Noi Club. Henrique received the ball from his teammate and then turned around to finish, defeating the Hai Phong goalkeeper.

4 minutes later, Henrique jumped high and made a dangerous header, but Dinh Trieu's excellent reflexes saved Hai Phong.

In the 75th minute, after being brought in as a substitute, Minh Di received the ball and kicked it hard to equalize for the current V-League runner-up. This was the first time Vietnamese-American goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang had to pick the ball out of the net.

In the final minutes, both teams tried hard but neither side scored any more goals, so they had to accept the final draw of 1-1.
