Cars collide on Nha Trang - Cam Lam highway, 2 people dead

The first accident on the Nha Trang - Cam Lam highway caused a 4-seat car to be completely crushed, killing two people and seriously injuring two others on the morning of June 24.

At around 1am, a car carrying 4 people was traveling north-south on the Nha Trang – Cam Lam highway. When it reached a section near Cam Ranh City, the car was hit by a container truck traveling in the same direction. The collision crushed the rear of the 4-seater car, trapping the driver and one person.

Many workers working nearby broke the door to bring the victims out and transferred them to Cam Ranh General Hospital. The accident vehicle blocked the road, so the highway management unit blocked one way from Nha Trang to Cam Lam to limit traffic congestion. A representative of Nha Trang - Cam Lam Expressway Investment Company Limited said this was the first accident since the route opened to traffic on May 19.

A representative of Cam Ranh General Hospital said that all four hospitalized cases were male. Two severe cases with traumatic brain injury and multiple injuries were transferred to Khanh Hoa General Hospital. Two of the transferred patients died.
