President Vladimir Putin will attend and present Russia's views on the current world situation at the G20 economic leaders' meeting, scheduled to take place online on November 22 and hosted by India.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the information on November 20. "Yes, a speech is planned. The program is clear, that the current situation is very unstable. Naturally, Russia's position will be outlined. It is quite widely known, consistent and balanced," Mr. Peskov said.
Russian state television journalist Pavel Zarubin wrote on the Telegram channel that the upcoming conference will be the first event in a long time to feature President Putin and Western leaders.

The New Indian Express quoted US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti as saying that it was uncertain whether President Joe Biden would attend the event as the US was preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday. Mr Garcetti noted that President Biden had attended the G20 summit in India in September and that bilateral ties were stronger than ever.
In another announcement, TASS news agency reported that President Putin also attended an extraordinary online conference on November 21 of leaders of the emerging economies (BRICS) on the escalation of the Israel-Palestine conflict. BRICS includes India, Brazil, South Africa, Russia and China. Six other countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ethiopia and Iran were also invited to participate. These are the countries that will officially become members of BRICS in early 2024.
Iranian media reported that the extraordinary summit was initiated by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also attended the meeting. The office of the President of South Africa, which holds the rotating BRICS presidency, said the participants would discuss the current humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and were expected to adopt a joint statement.

Earlier, President Putin criticized the West for escalating tensions in the Middle East, and Israel for conducting military operations in Gaza. The leader suggested that Russia could play the role of mediator between the parties.
