Petrolimex announced its consolidated financial report for the second quarter of 2023 with net revenue reaching VND65,752 billion, down 22% year-on-year. However, many costs decreased more sharply, helping Petrolimex earn after-tax profit of nearly VND850 billion, while in the same period last year, it lost VND140.7 billion.
In the first 6 months of this year, the petroleum giant achieved net revenue of VND133,184 billion, down 12% year-on-year. However, the cost of goods sold decreased more sharply, plus financial revenue increased by nearly 30%, helping pre-tax profit increase 6 times compared to the same period in 2022, reaching VND1,868 billion. Excluding corporate income tax, Petrolimex reported net profit more than 6 times higher than the same period, reaching VND1,393 billion.

Compared to the 2023 business plan, Petrolimex has completed 70% of its revenue target and about 58% of its profit target for the year.

The world's energy supply and oil prices were not affected by unusual factors such as the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022. At the same time, the supply of petroleum from domestic refineries was quite stable, and traders imported petroleum according to plan and ensured efficiency.
