Mr. Le Minh Hoan and Mr. Vu Hong Thanh were elected Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly.

(Dan Tri) - The National Assembly has just unanimously elected two persons to hold the position of Vice Chairmen of the 15th National Assembly, including Mr. Le Minh Hoan and Mr. Vu Hong Thanh. The National Assembly currently has 6 Vice Chairmen, an increase of 2 compared to the current number.

On February 18, the National Assembly conducted a secret ballot to elect the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly for the 2021-2026 term. The resolution to elect Mr. Le Minh Hoan and Mr. Vu Hong Thanh as Vice Chairman of the National Assembly for the 2021-2026 term was also passed by the National Assembly on the same day.

With this resolution, the 15th National Assembly has 2 more vice chairmen, bringing the total number of National Assembly leaders to 7, including National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and 6 National Assembly vice chairmen.

The six vice chairmen of the National Assembly include Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Duc Hai, Nguyen Khac Dinh, Tran Quang Phuong, Nguyen Thi Thanh, Le Minh Hoan and Vu Hong Thanh.

New Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan was born in 1961, from Dong Thap.

He has a Master's degree in Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture. Mr. Hoan served as a member of the Central Committee for two terms (terms XII and XIII) and as a National Assembly delegate for four terms (terms XI, XIII, XIV and XV).

Starting from the position of an officer of the Department of Transport and Construction in Cao Lanh town, Mr. Hoan gradually held many important positions in the locality.

After working as Deputy Director and then Director of the Department of Construction of Dong Thap province (January 1995 - December 2003), Mr. Hoan became Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and held this position for nearly 5 years.

In mid-2008, Mr. Hoan took on the position of Secretary of the Cao Lanh City Party Committee, then he became Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee.

In May 2014, Mr. Hoan held the position of Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, then Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

Mr. Hoan was transferred to the Central Government to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development from September 2020. Nearly a year later, the National Assembly approved his appointment as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and he has held this position until now.

New Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh was born in 1962, from Hai Duong. He is a traffic machinery manufacturing engineer.

Mr. Thanh is a member of the Central Committee, terms XII and XIII; a delegate of the National Assembly, terms XIV and XV.

After 5 years as a lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Mr. Thanh returned to his hometown and held many important positions in the locality.

He was formerly Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Ninh province.

From October 2010, he held the position of Secretary of the Ha Long City Party Committee for nearly 5 years, then became Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee.

In July 2016, he resigned from his local leadership position to become Chairman of the Economic Committee of the 14th National Assembly. During this term, he was also Chairman of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Parliamentarians' Group.

During the 15th National Assembly term, Mr. Thanh continued to assume the position of Chairman of the Economic Committee and has held that position until now, when he was elected Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly's agencies include the Council of Nationalities and nine committees.

After the arrangement, the number of specialized agencies of the National Assembly was reduced by 2 committees, leaving the Ethnic Council and 7 committees.

The 7 committees include: Ethnic Council; National Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs Committee; Law and Justice Committee; Economic and Financial Committee; Culture and Social Committee; Science, Technology and Environment Committee; People's Aspirations and Supervision Committee; Delegation Work Committee.
